Single Issue Voters Will Kill North Carolina

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

I’ll never understand one issue voters.

I’ve found that those who put all their political eggs in one basket, tend to have a glaring lack of knowledge about the broader issues that would otherwise directly affect them.

Take for example, the social justice warriors, who have glommed on to the bathroom bill nonsense in North Carolina.

Obama’s Department of (Social) Justice, the gay mafia, and the whole cadre of unsavory Marxists have made penises in the little girls’ room their hill to die on, in the Tarheel state.

The liberal pockets within the state, the Democrat politicians, the NCAA, and all the outside money flowing in have made Governor McCrory Enemy #1, and are pulling out all the stops to make sure he’s a one-term governor.

The sordid hope, as revealed in some of the WikiLeaks documents dumped several months ago, was that the economic impact of having ball games and concerts pull out of the state, based on some false claim of “discrimination” would so ruin the state and so damage Governor McCrory’s reputation, that nobody would look at the bigger picture.

The state would reject McCrory, install Roy Cooper in Raleigh, allow Democrats to retake the majority in the State House, and we could not only have bathrooms that are no longer safe for women and children, but an overtaxed, broken economy, too.

Make no mistake, it is a concerted effort to bury McCrory. Because of Obama’s overreach and the involvement of the DOJ in this issue (helped along by a society that no longer cares about anything that isn’t delivered to them in easy, bite-size bits on social media), more people know about a bathroom issue and lost revenue through ball games and concerts, than know about the economic upswing of the state.

WRAL, out of Raleigh, has been very critical of House Bill 2, and have hammered McCrory and his administration over the boycotts and lost revenue.

After a thorough investigation, the network found that the economic impact on the state would be a loss of approximately $500 million.

It sounds bad, doesn’t it?

What they left out of their findings (purposely, you can bet) was outlined in the Carolina Journal:

But North Carolina’s economy is large and diverse, with a gross state domestic product in 2015 of $510 billion. So H.B. 2 may have reduced North Carolina’s economic activity by about 0.1 percent. And even that figure is too high, because it assumes that none of the facilities hosting conference attendees or concert-goers would try to resell those now-empty banquet facilities or hotel rooms. To be sure, the cancellations had local impacts: Vendors who would have sold T-shirts and concessions lost some income. But the overall effect statewide was small.

So why are the left pushing this issue so hard?

Because it’s all they have.

Furthermore:

In the most recent Civitas Institute Poll, respondents said the most important issues for state government to confront were improving public education, creating jobs, and reducing health care costs, in that order. Those issues were cited by 75 percent of respondents, and no other item got more than 9 percent support.

While I don’t have the numbers on health care for the state, I can say Governor McCrory has signed off on ending Common Core in the state, and has brought in over 300,000 new jobs, so far.

That’s jobs coming, in spite of being required to have gender-segregated bathrooms or single stall bathrooms, mind you.

My question for the single issue voters, especially those caught up on the bathroom issue, would be this: What good will all-access bathrooms be to you if the state burns down around you?

It will be a question, I’m afraid, that those who remained passive in keeping knowledgeable about the full gamut of issues involving the state will have to answer in 2017, if they let liberals use bathrooms as a cudgel to enforce their will.
