Does the AT&T-Time Warner deal remind anyone else of Dr. William Pierce?
“An ambitious bid by AT&T to buy Time Warner could face major political obstacles in merger-wary Washington, where congressional lawmakers — and both the Clinton and Trump campaigns — are already sounding early doubts about the deal.
It’ll be up to federal regulators in the coming months to bless or reject a merger that would combine the more than 100 million wireless, broadband and pay-TV subscribers at AT&T with Time Warner assets like HBO and CNN. The combination, valued at more than $85 billion, could dramatically reshape the telecommunications industry. …”
The first thing you learn in White Nationalism 101 is that a handful of corporations dominate the American news and entertainment media. What’s more, you learn that a tiny Jewish elite sits atop the #LyingPress and uses its power over the print media and airwaves to poison and manipulate the minds of the masses.
A few years ago, Comcast bought NBC:
“Trump, who has routinely called journalists nasty liars for bringing up his own record, blasted the media by turning his ire toward Comcast / NBC Universal. Saying the merged company is “trying to poison the mind of the American voter,” Trump said that the now-five-year-old deal should never have been approved in the first place, and that it’s bad for democracy. Trump is certainly saying this for the wrong reasons, but as AT&T is rumored to be buying Time Warner this weekend, it’s a good time to note that he’s partially — if accidentally — right. …
Comcast may not be trying to poison the minds of voters, but for years it has definitely been putting something in the well for regulators and members of Congress. If there were ever a revolving door in Washington, DC, this is it: four months after the FCC approved Comcast’s acquisition of NBC, an FCC commissioner who approved the deal was hired as a lobbyist for Comcast. …”
Now, it has been 15 years since I was first exposed to William Pierce’s theories about the media. I haven’t kept track of the shifting media landscape since then. I’m not sure who controls what anymore or to what extent Jews are still dominant in the media – with the rise of Zuckerberg and Facebook, it is got to be a lot, right?
Anyway, my sense is that the traditional media has consolidated to a much greater degree since 2001, but its power has fragmented due to social media. Regardless, The Megaphone through its control over television still has the power to set and drive the Narrative, even if it is no longer as powerful as it was in the 1960s. In a liberal democracy, power is ability to manipulate the minds of the electorate through control and framing of the Narrative, and those who control The Megaphone are those who wield power.
It is moments like these where I like would love to hear what Dr. William Pierce has to say about the subject. Conservatives, aka “classical liberals,” don’t understand how power in the real world works. Indeed, The Megaphone even defines their “morality” through its power to set the ground rules of “respectability” in the USA. There is always some new -ism or -phobia it is working on mainstreaming to straightjacket the Right.
Twist this way and you’re guilty of “racism.” Twist this way and it is “sexism.” Twist another way and it is “Islamophobia.” Even if you get past accusations of “racism” and “white supremacy,” you can always be accused of complicity in unconscious “white privilege” or “systemic racism” and subjected to a Two Minute Hate for a news cycle.
