She was the vice chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, until she stepped down to work on Senator Bernie Sanders’ campaign.
She’s a Democrat representative from Hawaii.
She’s also a combat veteran, and a potential Trump pick to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, if one New York Times reporter’s tweet can be believed.

Does she pass the Bannon test?
Trump’s chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, is reportedly a big fan of Gabbard because of her right-leaning stances on guns, refugees and Islamic extremism.
Gabbard did not join the majority of her Democratic colleagues in co-sponsoring gun control legislation this summer.
She also voted in favor of a Republican-sponsored bill that requires refugees from Iraq and Syria receive background checks from the FBI.
And the congresswoman condemned Obama earlier this year for not referring to recent terror attacks as “Islamic extremism.”
Ok, that answers that.
She had stated that she would be voting for Hillary over Trump in the election, but if reports can be believed, Trump is crossing the aisle.

So while she has some favorable stances, she has some decidedly liberal, socialist leanings, as well.
Gabbard will be meeting with Trump today, so it can only be assumed that talk of some position is in the works.
