Waves from 7.4 quake reach Fukushima nuclear power plant | 22 Nov 2016 | Tsunami waves hit areas along the Japanese coast after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Fukushima prefecture. Hours later a magnitude 6.3 earthquake also struck New Zealand about 1.19pm local time (11.19am AEDT). Sirens rang out in the early hours of Tuesday morning as residents were urged to evacuate immediately following the Japanese quake…A one metre tsunami wave also hit the coast at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, where a massive tsunami caused a meltdown[s] in 2011.
