The comprehensive military campaign by Iraqi military forces to liberate the Northern city of Mosul from ISIL militants continued on Sunday with a senior member of the Nineveh Provincial Council reporting that at least 2,000 ISIL terrorists have been killed since the start of the operations in Northwestern Iraq.

2,000 ISIL Terrorists Killed in Mosul Liberation Operation

A senior member of the Nineveh Provincial Council disclosed on Sunday that at least 2,000 ISIL terrorists have been killed since the start of the Mosul Liberation Operation in Northwestern Iraq.

Abdul Sattar al-Habo was quoted by al-Ma’aloumeh news as saying that at least 2,000 ISIL terrorists have been killed since October 17 when the Iraqi forces and popular forces kicked off the Mosul Liberation Operation.

He further added that after Iraqi forces intensified operations in the region, around 160 members of ISIL have been killed each day.

Two Elite Iraqi Units Link up for New Assault in Mosul

Two elite Iraqi units linked up in Mosul to form a joint front to advance Westward against the ISIL terrorist group in the Northern city, officers said.

The Rapid Response Division reached the Northern edge of Al-Intisar neighborhood, while the Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) advanced to the Southern side of the adjoining Al-Quds area, Al Manar reported.

The two neighborhoods are located on the Eastern side of Mosul, where security forces have retaken multiple areas from ISIL, but the city’s West is still completely in terrorist hands.

20 ISIL Terrorists Killed in Iraqi Drone Attack in Mosul

A security source in Nineveh province disclosed minutes ago that an Iraqi combat drone bombed a gathering of ISIL in Mosul, killing at least 20 terrorists and wounding several more.

“An Iraqi CH4 drone targeted a concentration center of ISIL militants in Kornish region in the Tigris River’s right bank, leaving at least 20 terrorists dead,” the source said.

“It was the first time that this model of drone targeted ISIL’s position in the right bank of the river in Mosul,” the source pointed out.

Iraqi Forces Seize Back 2 Key Regions in Mosul City

Iraq’s joint military forces continued their advances in Mosul and near the city in Nineveh province, and took control of more lands back from ISIL.

The Iraqi popular forces and Federal Police in a joint operation seized back the village of Shokran Westward of Mosul city.

A large number of ISIL terrorists were killed in fierce clashes with the Iraqi forces near Shokran village.

Meantime, Iraq’s joint military forces won back al-Arkoub district in the Eastern part of Mosul city.

The video shows Kurdish and Iraqi Special Forces in heavy combat action during heavy clashes with ISIS as part of the Mosul Offensive 2016 in order to clear the city of Mosul, Iraq from Daesh.

The video begins with a close call for an ISIS fighter that got nearly shot by incoming rounds and then shows an armored assault of Iraqi M1A1 Abrams tanks on ISIS positions west of Mosul filmed from the turret of one tank with a GoPro tank turret cam or in short tank cam.

After this the video shows a American volunteer fighter embedded with Kurdish Peshmerga filming the destruction of an ISIS SVBIED before the video shows a Kurdish Special Force column armed with lots of German weapons such as G36 Assault rifles, Panzerfaust 3 and Dingo armored vehicles battle ISIS and destroying several other SVBIEDs before having close combat with ISIS fighters hidden inside a house.

The last and longest part of the video shows Iraqi Special Forces in heavy combat and firefights with ISIS in the streets of Mosul.

The Battle of Mosul is a joint offensive by Iraqi government forces with allied militias, Iraqi Kurdistan, and international forces to retake the city of Mosul from the so called Islamic State. The battle for Mosul is considered key in the military intervention against ISIS, which seized the city in June 2014. The operation follows the Mosul offensive in 2015 and 2016. The offensive began with Iraqi troops and Peshmerga fighters engaging ISIS on three fronts outside Mosul, going from village to village in the surrounding area.

More than 120 towns and villages were liberated from ISIL control in the first two weeks of fighting. At dawn on 1 November, Iraqi Special Operations Forces entered the city on the eastern front.Met with fierce fighting, heavy combat, heavy clashes and heavy firefights the Iraqi advance into the city was slowed by elaborate defenses – including road blocks, booby traps, suicide bombers and snipers – along with the presence of civilians.

Mosul is Iraq’s second most populous city. It fell to 800 ISIS militants in June 2014 because of the largely Sunni population’s deep distrust of the primarily Shia Iraqi government and its corrupt armed forces.

The city was once extremely diverse, with ethnic minorities including Armenians, Yazidis, Assyrian, Turkmen, and Shabak people, who suffered considerably under the murderous Sunni Arab ISIL. Mosul remains the last stronghold of ISIS in Iraq, and the anticipated offensive to reclaim it was hyped as the “mother of all battles”.

Terrorist Groups Planning to Move to Saudi Arabia, Arab States Following Defeats in Syria

Media sources disclosed that a number of terrorist groups have decided to forward their forces to Saudi Arabia and other Arab states in the Middle East after devastating defeats in the battlefields across Syria.

Waltir Net reported that recent advances of the Syrian army troops against militants in different parts of the country and in the meantime Turkey’s overt retreat from its previous positions to topple President Bashar al-Assad have caused the terrorist groups to decide to leave the country for Saudi Arabia and other Middle-Eastern countries.

The website said that terrorists of Ahrar al-Sham, in a meeting held in the group’s council on December 19, underlined that they do not intend to merge with Fatah al-Sham Front (previously known as the al-Nusra Front).

Ahrar al-Sham’s meeting was held before the recapture of Eastern Aleppo by the Syrian pro-government forces, which was a sign of major defeat of Fatah al-Sham and Ahrar al-Sham.

The website went on to say that latest images released recently show that two groups of Ahrar al-Sham and Fatah al-Sham are practically hoisting different flags indicating their defection.

The two groups showed their wide differences with their white and black flags.

Meantime, dissident sources said Al-Nusra Front is preparing war plans to force Ahrar al-Sham militant group out of Idlib after reports said the latter has signed the ceasefire agreement brokered by Russia and Turkey between the Syrian government and some militant groups.

Sources close to the dissident groups in Northwestern Syria said that Al-Nusra has prepared war plans to capture the entire Idlib province and force Ahrar al-Sham back across the border into Turkey after the latter militant group joined the ceasefire agreement between the Syrian government and the so-called moderate dissidents that tasks Ahrar al-Sham to assign a new mission to all its militants that used to fight against the Syrian government to stand against the Al-Nusra Front as a terrorist group and open war on the Al-Qaeda offshoot in Idlib.

Meantime, media sources reported that Turkey has warned all militant groups in Idlib that merger with al-Nusra would amount to “suicide” as Ankara has agreed to separate al-Nusra Front and extremist commanders from other groups in Northern Syria.
