Passengers boarded Flight 666 to HEL on Friday the 13th. That is not a typo. People voluntarily got on an airplane in Finland that was flying to Hell on Friday the 13th. Was the pilot named Jason by any chance?
Now, I’m not one to avoid walking under ladders, nor flee from black cats, and I certainly don’t suffer from paraskavedekatriaphobia, the fear of Friday the 13th. However, I’m drawing the line at getting on an airplane to “Hell” with the mark of the Devil on the 13th Friday of this or any month. Maybe it’s just me. Some brave (stupid?) souls did just that in Copenhagen this morning. Can you imagine looking at your flight itinerary and seeing this? These people do not live in their Fears.
The flight from Copenhagen to Helsinki has landed safely with no reports of anything unusual. Through no fault of their own, I might add. According to their flight list, Finnair Flight AY666 took of at 13:07, these people like to tempt fate, and arrived in at the Helsinki airport, call signal HEL at 15:41.
According to ABC News this isn’t the first time it’s happened either….
The eerily-timed flight has taken to the skies before, according to the Associated Press in Helsinki, who wrote about the daily flight on Sept. 13, 2013. The pilot of that flight said that he and other pilots had joked about it, adding, “I’m not a superstitious man. It’s only a coincidence for me.
I can see that this would be a draw for thrill seekers and commuters who have no choice, but I’m out. This could end up being a very profitable promotion for Finnish Air though. If they choose to offer more of the bedeviled flights in the future. There is only one more “Friday the 13th” in 2017, that’s in October. Just in time for what would be an epic Halloween promotion. If Finnish Air played their cards right, that could be one of the most sought after plane tickets in history.
They should roll with the whole theme, play the “Che-Che-Ha-Ha-Ha” music as the passengers board a dimly lit cabin. Dress the flight attendants in hockey masks, Hell they should show one of the movies, really tap into 80’s slasher horror fans’ inner child. The novelty alone would make those ticket prices soar. I mean I’m not going to buy one, but it’s still a great idea…. for someone else. Maybe you?
