Putting Aside Ill Will, Former Pres Bush Announces He’ll Attend Trump’s Inauguration

Well, this is a turnaround.

It was earlier reported that only one former president, Jimmy Carter, had RSVP’d to attend the inauguration of Donald Trump.

Fitting, as it appears Carter is the only one who can relate to Trump, and approved of Trump as a candidate, in the first place (He considers Trump “malleable”).

Now it appears George W. Bush has had a change of heart, and will attend, after all.

In a statement Tuesday, the former president’s office said the Bushes are “pleased to be able to witness the peaceful transfer of power — a hallmark of American democracy — and swearing-in of President Trump and Vice President Pence.”

Trump was so ridiculously vile and hateful to Bush’s brother, Jeb Bush, during the primaries, as well as to the Bush family, in general, that it was widely rumored that neither of the former Bush presidents would endorse or vote for Trump in the general election.

Unlike Trump, however, George W. Bush has always shown himself to be a classy guy. You don’t have to agree with every move he made to recognize that, and as usual, he’s putting aside any ill will, in order to honor tradition.

President Obama will be attending an inaugural event at the Capital building, before taking his leave.

All living former presidents have been invited, but because of poor health, George H.W. Bush will be unable.

I really want to see if Bill Clinton attends. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Clinton’s wife fought one of the nastiest battles for the presidency against Trump than can be remembered in recent memory.

I’m pretty sure some of the sniping and mud-slinging we saw this season far surpassed the Obama team putting out ads with Paul Ryan pushing Grandma over a cliff, back in 2012.

With that said, it’s good to see George W. Bush making this gesture.
