The President Has Grossly Overstepped His Power

That would be Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, the elected leader of Iceland, who has declared war on pizza with pineapple topping.

The local news site Vísir reports that at the end of his visit Guðni took questions from students. Guðni answered questions about various personal things, including which team he rooted for in the English premiere league (which turned out to be Manchester United). He was then asked about his opinion about pineapples as a pizza topping. Guðni answered that he was fundamentally opposed to putting pineapple on top of a pizza.

Then he went one step further, announcing that he would pass a ban on pineapple as a pizza topping if he had the power to pass laws on his own.

Literally #NotMyPresident , how can any democracy survive such madness ? Hopefully the people of Iceland can stop this.

Wisconsin Declares War On Butter to Protect Consumers ?

Mind you not its butter or butter the rest of the country hasn’t been enjoying.

In 1970, a law was passed which required that all butter intended for commercial purposes within Wisconsin first be put before a panel of “experts” responsible for grading the product based on a set of state standards. This law, which had largely been forgotten or at least ignored for decades, has now become an issue once again thanks to the rise of high fat diets.

For those who subscribe to high fat lifestyles such as the Paleo, Primal Blueprint, or Ketogenic diets, butter usage is strongly encouraged, so long as that butter is grass-fed. This has caused market demand for grass-fed butter to skyrocket over the last several years, alarming Wisconsin food bureaucrats who cannot stand to see a rule being broken, no matter how arbitrary it may be.

Since Kerrygold is based in Ireland, its products do not go through the same regulatory processes as American products. Without an official American-issued quality grade, the nanny state of Wisconsin is refusing to allow this butter to be sold on its grocery store shelves, despite overwhelming consumer demand.

—Foundation For Economic Education

This is about as sensible as the Icelandic President interfering in pizza toppings, but a heck of a lot more sinister. You can’t help but read this and think the legislature of Wisconsin has decided the citizens are the dairy man’s cash cows. What’s more at the very least you would think they could come up with a competing product to satisfy demand.

A Really Good Idea ?

A Kentucky State Senator has floated a bill that would require students to pass a citizenship test before they could graduate high school.

A Kentucky lawmaker has filed a bill that would require all public high school students to pass a civics test in order to receive a regular diploma.

Sen. Jared Carpenter, a Republican from Berea, filed Senate Bill 159 on Friday, which would direct the Kentucky Department of Education to “prepare or approve the test with 100 questions drawn from the test administered by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services to persons seeking to become naturalized citizens” and to “disseminate the test to all public school districts.”

Students would be given the opportunity to retake the test “as often as needed in order to pass

Certainly an improvement over common core, there may be opposition from the makers of Youtube interview videos.
