American Airlines Is The Latest To Join Fight Club (And Yes, There’s Video)

No, seriously. What is going on with the airlines?

It seems American Airlines has their own problem with pugnacious employees.

This time around, it’s not as clear. There’s no actual footage of the assault, but there is footage of the aftermath, along with witness accounts.

I don’t know that this will be covered as extensively as the United Airlines case, but it’s still pretty bad.

Apparently, a mother, carrying her baby was hit with a stroller by an impatient flight attendant.

A video of the incident was shared by another passenger on the flight and shows the mother sobbing and holding her child after the alleged incident took place. There is no video of the woman being hit by the stroller.

The fellow passenger, Surain Adyanthaya, posted the video on Facebook with the caption: “OMG. Flight attendant violently took a stroller from a lady with a baby on my flight, hitting her and just missing the baby. Then he tried to fight a passenger who stood up for her.’’

You can hear a man saying he wasn’t going to sit by and watch this happen, just before a gentleman comes into frame and challenges the male flight attendant, as the woman holding the baby sobs uncontrollably:

“You do that to me and I’ll knock you flat. You almost hurt a baby.”

The American Airlines employee responds, “Stay out of it.”

To be fair, without seeing what actually happened and not having a full report, it may have been an incident that became overblown by a distraught mother.

However, the reaction of those on the flight who witnessed it seemed like genuine outrage.

American said in a statement the employee has been taken off duty and the incident is being investigated.

“The actions of our team member captured here do not appear to reflect patience or empathy, two values necessary for customer care. In short, we are disappointed by these actions,” American said in a statement. “The American team member has been removed from duty while we immediately investigate this incident.”

And that’s a good start.

Let’s hope American learned from United and we won’t be seeing articles discussing this sobbing mom’s alleged checkered past, anytime soon.
