Bill O’Reilly Kicks Off Podcast Post-Fox News

Bill O’Reilly apparently thought that his 15 year reign with Fox News would never end, or at least, when it did, it would be on his terms.

O’Reilly kicked off his new podcast, “No Spin News” on Monday night, talking about his feelings over how things ultimately shook out for him, and what was coming next. Not surprisingly, he’s a little sad, and I’m sure he’s wondering what to do with himself, but he walked away with a $25 million severance package, so he should be ok.

“I can’t say a lot, because there’s much stuff going on right now.”

The 67-year-old O’Reilly added that he’s “very confident the truth will come out” surrounding the sexual harassment allegations that led to advertisers fleeing the “O’Reilly Factor” and ultimately to his stunning departure.

“I can tell you that I’m very confident the truth will come out, and when it does, I don’t know if you’re going to be surprised – but I think you’re going to be shaken, as I am. There’s a lot of stuff involved here,” said O’Reilly.

And that’s what a lot of them say, so you wait on these shocking revelations and none materialize.

“Now, I can’t say anymore because I just don’t want to influence the flow of the information. I don’t want the media to take what I say and misconstrue it. However you, as a loyal O’Reilly listener, have a right to know, I think, down the lane what exactly happened. And we are working in that direction, OK?”

The podcast lasted about 20 minutes and was featured on O’Reilly’s website, BillOReilly.com.

Showing that he’s still marketing himself, the podcast is offered for free Monday through Thursday of this week. Normally, there is a subscription to the site necessary to receive the podcast.

O’Reilly is likely hoping the controversy will bring new listeners to the site, who will hear the podcast and decide they stand with Bill, enough so that they’re willing to pay to have access to his podcast each week.

This initial post-Fox podcast had no guest, but that could change, moving forward. And I’ll say this: It’s the smart thing to do. Podcasts have increasingly become a legitimate alternative outlet.

What’s more, the bare bones nature of podcasts dramatically decreases the opportunity to sexually harass guests and colleagues.
