Has Trump Already Pegged Comey’s Replacement?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

With James Comey’s ouster as FBI Director, the speculation begins about who his replacement will be.

While lawmakers on both sides of the aisle were a bit unsettled by the news, Trump took to Twitter this morning to reassure them that all was well.

Honestly, for Democrats to be upset is a bit amusing. They really did want Comey’s head on a platter. Many still blame him for Hillary Clinton’s loss.

And by “many” I mean Clinton, herself. She recently remarked that his reopening of the investigation into her email scandal in October 2016 helped sink her run for the presidency.

She still can’t face that she’s just that awful.

Still, Trump’s timing and ice cold method of firing Comey has raised eyebrows. The reason for his firing seems to be his handling of the Clinton emails, but Trump has praised him for how he treated that investigation, in the past.

He said in the fall that it “took a lot of guts” for Comey to send the Oct. 28 letter to Congress regarding Hillary Clinton‘s private email server “in light of the kind of opposition he had where they’re trying to protect her from criminal prosecution.”

As it turned out, Trump’s goal was to protect her from criminal prosecution, as well. Once he was elected, he told his supporters that he had no desire to push for her prosecution.

But back to Comey, and that now-vacant Director position.

Who will take over?

For now, the acting Director is Andrew McCabe, but an appearance in Washington last night has led to some speculation about Trump loyalist and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Giuliani has denied that he is being considered to take over the role, but still, rumors:

I guess we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, lawmakers are calling on a special investigator to take over the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.
