Iraqi Forces Liberate Wadi Aqab Area in West Mosul

The Iraqi forces managed to fully liberate the Wadi Aqab industrial area in West Mosul, a commander in Iraqi army’s elite Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS).

“Rapid response forces and counter-terrorism forces managed to liberate the entire region of Wadi Aqab, as well as a significant progress was made in the area of 30 Tammuz west of Mosul,” said Kazem Hassan, an officer from the CTS, BAS News reported.

He added that “The fighting resulted in the deaths of 30 ISIL militants as well as wounding dozens of others.”

Earlier on Monday, a spokesperson for the Iraq’s Interior Ministry noted that approximately 3320 ISIL militants have been killed since the operation moved on to the western half of the city in February.

Eastern half of Mosul was declared liberated in January, following the operation’s commencement on October 17, 2016.

The Syrian army hit hard the terrorists’ military positions and hardware in Northern Hama province.

The terrorists in Hama province sustained heavy losses in tough battle with the Syrian army.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Hama

The Syrian Army troops, backed up by the country’s Air Force, continued to hit terrorists’ defense lines in Northern Hama, capturing more positions and killing or wounding a number of militants.

The army soldiers engaged in fierce clashes with the terrorists in Northern Hama and managed to fortify its positions in al-Zalaqiyat township, imposing control over a hill.

The fighter jets, meantime, bombed the positions of Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in the towns of al-Latamina and Morek in retaliation for the terrorists’ artillery and missile attacks on the ground forces’ position in the towns and villages of Qamhaneh, Halfaya, Mahradeh and Shalitout.

Local sources confirmed that a large number of terrorists were killed and their positions and vehicles were destroyed in the air raids.

Also, the warplanes pounded ISIL’s concentration centers in Aqayrabat region in Eastern Hama, inflicting heavy casualties on them.

Deir Ezzur

Military sources revealed on Sunday that the Syrian Army troops along with the Russian Special Forces are getting ready to carry out a joint operation against ISIL in Deir Ezzur to free the terrorist-held regions in the Eastern province.

The sources said that as preparations are underway for a massive operation, the army units, backed up by the country’s fighter jets, have managed to push ISIL back to come closer to their objective of removing the siege of Deir Ezzur’s military airport.

The army soldiers, supported by the artillery and missile unis and warplanes, also engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in al-Maqaber (cemetery) region, Wadi (desert) al-Thardah and al-Omal neighborhood, driving terrorists out of more positions in the battlefields.

Most military experts believe that Wadi al-Tharda, al-Maqaber and al-Omal neighborhoods will be the focus of the imminent joint operation by the Syrian and Russian forces.

Media sources have also reported that the Russian special forces will take part in the Syrian Army military operation to lift the siege on the Deir Ezzur.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also announced that the Russian air force will participate in the Deir Ezzur offensive, but it made no mention of the Russian special forces taking part in the upcoming ground assault on ISIL.

In the meantime, well-informed sources said that after the implementation of the agreement over the establishment of De-Escalation Zones in Syria, hundreds of the army forces will be forwarded to the battlefields, including Deir Ezzur and Eastern Homs to intensify fight against ISIL simultaneous with the Euphrates Rage Operation of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces in Raqqa and Iraqi Army’s operation in Mosul.

Homs

The Syrian Army forces continued to storm ISIL’s defense lines in al-Shoumeriyeh mountain in Eastern Homs and managed to push the terrorists back from more positions in the region.

The army soldiers engaged in hours of fierce clashes with the ISIL and retook control over Madarej al-Some’eh hill, killing and wounding a number of terrorists.

ISIL’s military hardware also sustained major damage in the clashes.

Damascus

Local sources said that over 150 terrorists have been killed and tens of others have been wounded in intensified clashes between Jeish al-Islam and the coalition of Faylaq al-Rahman and Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board) in Eastern Ghouta in the last seven days.

The sources said that almost 160 militants have been killed and tens of others have been injured in seven-day-long infighting between Jeish al-Islam and the united front of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at and Faylaq al-Rahman in the Eastern territories of Damascus province.

The sources added that Faylaq al-Rahman announced in a statement that its fighters have repelled Jeish al-Islam’s attacks and have pushed them back from the lands that it has conquered recently.

Faylaq al-Rahman also accused Jeish al-Islam of attacking its positions, seizing their warehouses and capturing several fighters and commanders of the group in Eastern Ghouta.

In the meantime, Spokesman for Jeish al-Islam Hamzeh Beiraqdar tweeted that Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at and Faylaq al-Rahman are to attack Jeish al-Islam’s defense lines in the town of al-Ash’ari after Jeish al-Islam stopped attacks and pulled its forces back from the townships they had entered previously.

Jeish al-Islam had previously announced in a statement that it had halted operation against Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at in Eastern Ghouta.
