Iraqi Forces Prepare For Final Push Against ISIS In Mosul

Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units launched operation to liberate Al-Kairawan West of Mosul… The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units announced a start of the operation «Mohammed Rasool Allah 2»… The aim of the operation is to liberate the Town of Al-Kairawan and its countryside West of Tal-Afar… The P.M.U has so far liberated the villages of Tal-Hajm, Am al-Shabit, Amkibra, Sabaya Khorash, Sedkhan, Abu lahaf, located North and East of Al-Kairawan… Furthermore,Popular Mobilization Units forces besieged the village of Boutha, South of Al-Kairawan and the villages of Mehdi Mahal, and Hayat North of it… The Popular Mobilization Units has allegedly killed 57 Isis-Terrorists fighters and destroyed 7 VBIED and 3 vehicles during the «Mohammed Rassol Allah 2»operation so far… In the video Popular Mobilization Units (Al-Hashd al-Shaabi) broke-through the so-called Islamic State’s front-line at several axes, inflicting heavy damage on the Isis-Terrorists, amid their third push to capture Al-Kairawan, and killed scores of Isis fighters,(an Inghimasi fighter,suicide fighter) and captured a vehicle … Al-Kairawan(Qairawan) is located directly Southwest of the so-called Islamic State’s stronghold at Tal-Afar… In order to attack Tal-Afar in the coming weeks, the Iraqi Armed forces will need to capture Al-Kairawan and its surrounding villages before beginning this imperative operation to expel the Isis-Terrorists from the region…

Iraqi Forces Start Massive Operations to Free Remaining ISIL-Held Areas in Mosul

The
Iraqi security forces could open their way into several districts in
Western Mosul after forcing the ISIL terrorists to withdraw from the
region on Sunday.

According to a statement by the Mosul
Operations Room, the Iraqi counter-terrorism forces arrived in al-Eraibi
and al-Rifaie regions and could shatter the ISIL defense lines.

Also,
the Iraqi rapid reaction police forces could retake al- al-Ektisadieen
region and the Southern and Northern parts of 17th of July district.

The Iraqi defense ministry has predicted that Mosul city will be fully seized back before the holy month of Ramadan.

Earlier
today, a senior Iraqi military commander said government forces have
launched a new push to drive ISIL militants from four neighborhoods in
West Mosul.

Lt. Gen. Abdul-Amir Rasheed Yarallah said in a
statement Sunday that Iraqi special forces are moving to the al-Eraibi
and al-Rifaie neighborhoods, while federal police and regular army
forces are fighting ISIL in nearby al-Ektisadieen and 17th of July
neighborhoods.

Yarallah said the forces “have broken through the enemy fortifications” without giving more details.

The
operation to retake Mosul was launched in October and the city’s East
was declared liberated in January. Iraqi forces launched the operation
to retake the West the following month.

In recent weeks, Iraqi troops have slowly closed in on a small cluster of ISIL-held neighborhoods in the city’s West.

Iraqi MP: US, Turkey Impeding Liberation of Tal Afar

A senior Iraqi legislator blasted the US and Turkey for their antagonistic behavior towards efforts to liberate the city of Tal Afar in Nineveh province.

Iskandar Watout, a member of the Iraqi parliament’s Security and Defense Committee, told reporters in a press conference that the process to take back Tal Afar is facing resistance and pressures by Turkey and the US.

He called on the Iraqi government not to become influenced by Turkey and the US or Iraqi Kurdistan President Masoud Barzani and try to expel the Turkish forces from Iraq’s soil.

Watout described Tal Afar as a vital and important city hosting tens of ISIL bases, and said, “Operations against the terrorist groups in Iraq should continue unstopped until full victory.”

In relevant remarks in April, another Iraqi parliamentarian revealed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to hold back the Hashd al-Shaabi (Iraqi Mobilization) forces from any operation to liberate Tal Afar.

“Erdogan has in a message to Abadi warned that if Hashd al-Shaabi advances towards Tal Afar, the Turkish forces will also be deployed in the region,” Nahleh al-Hababi was quoted as saying by al-Mouqef al-Iraqi news website.

The Iraqi legislator, meantime, underlined that Hashd al-Shaabi has surrounded Tal Afar region from several fronts and would play the main role in the liberation operation.

Also, last month, a senior commander of Hashd al-Shaabi underlined his forces’ full preparedness to launch offensive against the ISIL bases in Tal Afar.

“Tal Afar is the ISIL’s last base in Mosul. We have surrounded the city since several months ago,” Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes said.

Stressing the importance of Tal Afar and its liberation, he said, “The Iraqi volunteer forces are fully ready to attack Tal Afar but the decision to start the attack is upon the General Command of the Armed Forces.”

Syrian Army Readying For Imminent Anti-ISIL Operation as Tens of Reinforcements Arrive in Deir Ezzur

Military sources disclosed that the Syrian Army troops are getting ready to launch a fresh round of large-scale attacks on ISIL’s defense lines in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur with the arrival of tens of soldiers from de-escalation zones.

The sources said that almost 500 reinforcements that left their positions after implementation of de-escalation zones agreement have arrived in Deir Ezzur province to join the army units to kick off a fresh round of operation to lift the siege on Deir Ezzur city and airbase.

The sources further added that after sending hundreds of fresh forces to Eastern Homs and the army’s large-scale operation in the region, the pro-government forces’ advances towards Deir Ezzur will continue and meantime the army soldiers deployed in Deir Ezzur will continue their operation to end ISIL’s presence in both provinces.

Relevant reports said on Thursday that the army forces continued military operations against ISIL in Deir Ezzur, destroying an important tunnel used by the terrorists in the city and killing a group of militants.

The Syrian soldiers blew up a 23-meter-long tunnel belonging to the ISIL in front of al-Makateb region of al-Sina’ah district which was used for attacking the army positions by bomb-laden vehicles.

Also, other units of the army launched massive military operations in al-Maleha region near the areas adjacent to Regiment 137 Base in Southwestern Deir Ezzur, and killed all members of an ISIL grouplet.

Syria: 6 Safe Zones Agreement Violations Recorded During the Past 24 Hours, Tons of Food Delivered to Residents – Fort Russ

Russian Defense Ministry said the Joint Russian-Turkish Commission on violations of Safe Zones Agreement, recorded six cases of violations throughout Syria, during the past 24 hours.

According to the statement issued on Sunday, records include four shootings (three that took place in the province of Damascus and one in the province of Lattakia). In addition, Turkish side registered two other forms of ceasefire violations in the province of Damascus.

The statement further added that majority of violations were random shootings of small firearms and occurred in areas, controlled by ISIS and Al Nusra Front terrorists.

Apart from that, the new safe zones agreement is said to be going on in accordance with the schedule. The agreement, according to which there are now 4 de-escalation areas in Syria, was reached on the 4th of May during the talks on settlement of Syrian crisis in Astana. Russia, Iran and Turkey are acting as its guarantor states.

Meanwhile, the Russian Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides, made at least 10 humanitarian actions during the past 24 hours, with six of them being held in Aleppo, where residents received up to 1.8 tons of food aid. Three actions were also held in the province of Quneitra where 1 ton of food products was delivered. The largest one was held in the province of Lattakia where residents received 1.9 tons of packages, containing food and clothing.

Kurdish-Led SDF to Hand over Euphrates Dam to Syrian Gov’t

An informed source confirmed that the Predominately Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are to hand over the newly-seized Euphrates dam North of al-Tabaqa city to the Syrian government.

A Syrian-Kurdish command source pointed out that the SDF fighters that took control of the Euphrates dam and al-Tabaqa city in a an anti-ISIL operation codenamed the Euphrates Rage a couple of days ago, have agreed to hand over the dam to the government officials.

In the meantime, the Operation Room of the Euphrates Rage announced in a statement that after restoring full security to al-Tabaqa city and cleansing it from bombs and landmine planted by the ISIL, management of the city will be handed over to City Council and the city’s internal security forces.

The SDF announced on Wednesday that Kurdish forces fully captured the key al-Tabaqa city and Syria’s largest dam from ISIL terrorist group.

The SDF forces started the Euphrates Rage Operation in November 2016to drive ISIL out of Raqqa.
