Lots of new people go out for hunting every year but most of them return with the empty hand. Hunting is not just taking a gun and shooting the target. You can’t see any progress in hunting until and unless you acquire some skills. For taking the game down you must know the initial factors that are related to hunting. Even sometimes professional hunters also get distracted for not taking the right decisions and steps while targeting and shooting the game. Missing the target actually ruin the day which is so pathetic for a hunter.

So, to chase the game you have to follow some hunting rules literally technique. You can’t avoid these hunting techniques if you want to be a pro hunter. Besides knowing the hunting techniques, you also have to prepare for the hunting season. Now you must be wondering what are these preparation that I don’t know? These are simple and you know most of these things. But If you forget some of these things before hunting season, here is my article to remind you the preparation to be taken for a hunting season.

Know the hunting rules:

The first thing that you must know is the rules and regulations related to hunting spot and species. All sports are not open for hunting and hunters are not allowed to hunt all kind of species. Before You start planning for your new hunting season you must know the state regulation regarding hunting. You must check the rules because every year rules changes. This year doing something in hunting spot might be wrong which was right for doing in the last year. That’s why you should recheck the rules and regulation of hunting.

Take the necessary gears:

Your gear and tools choosing for hunting should depend on the type of hunting you want to do. Either you choose bow or rifle for hunting take the perfect one. Don’t use any rifle that is prohibited by the state hunting regulations. For deer hunting, you can use a long-range rifle which is recommended by the professional hunters.
Other essential gears that should be taken are hunting knife for skinning the game. Hunting clothes to hide you from the target. Hat or cap if the sun is scorching badly. Hunting sunglass to keep your eyes safe from the gas when you fire the rifle. Hunting boot for better hunting convenience. You can also choose a two-way radio for your hunting gear if you are planning on hunting with a group of hunters. This will allow you to communicate with other mates to make the plan.

Take permission for hunting:

If you want to go for hunting in a public land then you must have to take permission from the authority to go for hunting. Hunting also requires the license for different species. You cannot hunt big game like deer if you get the license for small game hunting. You can take the license from the local license vendor who will give you a tag for hunting a certain species. If you want to hunt both big game and the small game then you have to get the license for both.

Scouting before going to hunt:

Hunting season begins before one or two weeks of the opening day. Your success in hunting mostly depends on this first or two weeks prior to the opening day. Take a map and see where the game is located. You can get the map from the state department of hunting or from the resources available online. You can easily identify the location of the game you want to target following the map.

After getting the map now scout the hunting spot. By scouting the hunting spot before the opening day, you can make the plan from where you can target the game. Most importantly for hunting, you will need a place either on the ground or on the tree to track the game and shoot the game without placing any footprint of your location. That’s why you should scout the place to know where the game lives and the feeding place. If you know these things before the opening day then you are going to make the season successful.

Hunting on private land:

If you own a private land for hunting then you will not need any permission all you need is to get the permission for the hunting license. If you want to hunt in a private land that belongs to another landlord then you must take the permission from him. Also, follow his rules and regulation for hunting certain species.

Use your techniques:

Hunting techniques normally depends on the game. For ELK hunting you have to know how to call the game. Generally, hunter goes for ELK hunting by group. Some people call the yalk whom we know as caller. And some people hunt the game whom we know as hunter. Calling plays the most important role in ELK hunting.
For bird hunting you have to know how to find the bird. Specially for upland bird hunting you will require a dog who can assist you to find the dog. Most of the time you will need to shot the game multiple time in case you miss the first shot. So, for this reason you have to make plan B or C before shooting in the Plan A. For bird hunting especially for upland bird hunting you have to have the top skill for targeting.
For big game hunting you can feed the game before the opening day. If you feed them regularly then you can easily target them. Because in the opening day they will again come in the place where you have feed them. This way it will be easier for you to call the game near your targeting spot.

This are the initial techniques and preparation that we often forget. Even some people who are new in hunting they don’t have any knowledge about the prior work before the opening day. Hope now this hunting preparation checklist will help all the hunters for their successful hunting.
