GQ Passes Over Real Heroes in Order to Name Colin Kaepernick Citizen of the Year

(Before It's News)

By now you’ve likely heard of the men’s fashion magazine, GQ, naming 49er’s NFL player turned political activist Colin Kaepernick as the “citizen of the year.”

GQ’s article on the matter features it and various other people fawning over the man who first knelt during the national anthem in protest of racial inequality. This kickstarted a string of players kneeling for all sorts of different causes, be it racism, Trump, or even the debunked gender wage gap.

Kaepernick’s stunt has thus far been a complete failure. No amount of kneeling has changed anything in society except headline titles, and a steep decline in viewership for the NFL. Kaepernick has accomplished nothing but further division.

Yet GQ and the left believe Kaepernick is heroic enough to earn the title of citizen of the year. This includes noted Women’s March co-founder and noted pro-Sharia Law “feminist” Linda Sarsour.

If the woman who believes women that don’t agree with an agenda that believes should suffer physical harm for disobeying a strict code of backward theocratic rules calls you a hero, then you’re not a hero. Simple as that.

But what gets me about all this is that while Kaepernick is being paraded around by the left and its activist trash, real heroes are overlooked or ignored completely.

I’m talking about people like Stephen Willeford, who grabbed his gun and stopped the Sutherland Springs shooter from causing further harm, then chased him in order to make sure he faced justice.

How about Houston Texans NFL player J.J. Watt, who raised $37 million for Hurricane Harvey victims, and set up a plan to distribute goods quickly and effectively to those in need?

Speaking of Hurricane Harvey, a heroic story was coming out of that scene every day. Why not pick from any one of them?

What about former Google employee James Damore, who took a stand against one of the largest internet companies in America and exposed Google their potentially illegal “diversity” practices?

What about the people who took steps to make sure people caught in the Las Vegas shooting got the help they needed? Do they not get a shout out?

2017 is stuffed to the brim with heroic moments, so why is the left holding up people who have done little to make a real difference as heroes instead of 2017’s long list to choose from? For them, it seems an adherence to social justice ideas is more of a reason to celebrate someone than actually changing communities for the better.

Kaepernick is, despite GQ’s glowing description, not anywhere close to being the citizen of the year. Kaepernick is a destructive force, driving wedges between Americans, and ruining something that brought people from all walks of life together. GQ is celebrating a man who has only added to the societal corrosion.

Fine. Do that. I’ll be holding up real heroes.
