Syrian Arab Army battles ISIS near Abu Kamal

Syrian Army Kicks off Fresh Operation to Regain Control over Albu Kamal

The Syrian Army Forces have resumed a fresh operation to retake control over the town of Albu Kamal in Southeastern Deir Ezzur after they lost the town to the ISIL on Saturday, a military source reported on Sunday.

The source said that the Syrian fighter jets and choppers have started targeting ISIL’s defense lines near Albu Kamal, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The source further said that a large number of ISIL terrorists, including several field commanders that led the recapture of Albu Kamal, were killed in the air raids.

The source went on to say that the army’s elite forces have launched their operation from the town of al-Mayadeen towards Northwest of Albu Kamal.

The ISIL regained control over Albu Kamal on Saturday, just few days after the pro-government forces took back control of the strategic town at the border with Iraq on Thursday.

As Albu Kamal once again is under the ISIL’s control, the army and its allies will attempt to push towards the city from the al-Mayadeen flank in order to surround the terrorists from three different directions.

The Syrian Arab Army continued its operations on Saturday around the region of Abu Kamal, the last position of Daesh Takfiri terrorists in the Deir ez-Zor province. SAA operations around Abu Kamal were in full force to fully liberate the area from Daesh. Daesh has met a rapid series of defeats in Syria, with its territorial control on the brink of being completely erased.

The Qalamoun Shield (3rd Division) branch of the Syrian Arab Army has released battle footage showing its involvement in clearing Isis elements from the Eastern Hama pocket which was full restored under Government control on October 6… The two-minute video shows the Qalamoun Shield pushing through village after village it with the Syrian one amid counter-insurgency operations on the Eastern Hama axis… First established in January 2014 most troops fighting on behalf of the Qalamoun Shield nowadays are made up of former militants from various Free Syrian Army factions that have reconciled with the Syrian Arab Army over the past three years… Although the Syrian Arab Army did remove all Isis pockets in Eastern Hama through a series of rapid pincers ISIS still controls three villages in Northeastern Hama after runway militants broke through to territory controlled by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham last month trying to establish a new enclave of Isis control on the border with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham heartland…
