Pro-Lifers Are Being Guilted Into Supporting Roy Moore Even Though Morality Is Multi-Faceted

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

On December 12th, residents of Alabama will go to the polls and choose between Republican Judge Roy Moore and Democrat Doug Jones.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know all too well what has been going on in the past few weeks.

Roy Moore has been entangled in a mess of sexual assault allegations from four women. One of the accusers is claiming that she was 14 years old at the time of the incident. That kind of behavior is purely predatory and yes, fits the definition of pedophilia.

But hey – what’s the problem with a candidate’s past when a seat in the U.S. Senate is on the line? That’s the way some Republicans are acting. The defense of Moore is found in two categories: 1. He definitely didn’t do it. 2. Even if he did, we can’t lose a seat.

Are you kidding me?

Those who use the first excuse simply won’t allow themselves to believe substantial and highly-corroborated allegations because, gee, Moore has always been such a swell guy! Surely, he is not capable of that type of abominable behavior. (I guess they forget that he is sinful and human.) The second excuse is even worse. With this one, the slobbering Moore fans are saying: “He may very well be, or probably is, a sexual predator, but politics matter more.”

Such excuses are infuriating, but this is the GOP in 2017. It comfortably grew out of the 2016 GOP, and as we know, that brood is willing to look past most anything for a win.

Now that the RNC is back on board with good ‘ol boy Roy, it’s time to bring victory home! What better way to do that than guilt GOPers into supporting him solely based on the abortion issue?

“Moore the man may have fondled a teenage girl’s breasts, but wait – did you say babies?”

As a staunch pro-life conservative, I select my candidates very carefully. Whomever I choose must be unashamedly in favor of supporting unborn life at every turn. There is zero tolerance where that is concerned. Neither rape nor incest is a circumstance which should qualify unborn life for execution. Life begins at conception. Abortion is always wrong.

These concrete, unshakable convictions that I have disqualify 99.9% of candidates on the Left side of the aisle. This is simply a fact. Conversely, such a viewpoint is held by most candidates on the Right. More than anything, a candidate that I’m willing to support must be pro-life.

But it does not stop there.

If that were my only criteria, I would have voted for Donald Trump (though his pro-life stance is brand-new and unknown at best.) If this were my only criteria, and if I were a resident of Alabama, I’d happily and excitedly vote for Judge Roy Moore.

According to too many GOP robots, morality only means you think killing babies in utero is wrong. But morality is SO MUCH MORE than that alone, and because of this, Moore would never receive my support.

Simply put, morality is multi-faceted.

On Tuesday morning, Moore campaign spokeswoman, Janet Porter, appeared on CNN’s New Day for an interview. While I have yet to see the full segment, the beginning made it clear just what the campaign is clinging to as it makes its pitch to Alabama voters.

Of course, social media reacted…

When a campaign is only left with “at least he protects the underage babies”, you’ve truly descended into a pit of rationalization. You’re doing nothing more than using the pro-life issue as a shield in order to protect a predator.

And that is neither conservatism nor morality.

As it stands right now, it looks as if Judge Roy Moore will probably win the seat on Tuesday. In my estimation, that is not a win for the Republican party, of which I gladly excused myself from before the 2016 election day. Why? Because it shows yet again that the GOP is willing to overlook very serious issues with a candidate who was already a questionable choice.

Jonah Goldberg said it best…

But hey, at least he’s a pro-life predator.
