Russia, Russia, Russia: Devin Nunes Says He’s Found a “Clear Link” to Russia (WATCH)

The failure of his highly anticipated memo to live up to the hype has broken Rep. Devin Nunes. He desperately needs somebody to put an arm around him and say, “There, there.”

With that in mind, of course he ran into the arms of a co-conspirator Sean Hannity, who would offer a sympathetic ear.

In what appeared to be more sure parody than anything coming from Comedy Central, the California congressman made the latest in multiple recent appearances on Fox News, in order to maintain the pipedream of a memo that vindicates President Trump.

While appearing as a guest on Fox News, Nunes told host Sean Hannity that Democrats have been hypocritical in criticizing the memo compiled by his office because the “counterintelligence investigation should have been opened up against the Hillary [Clinton] campaign.”

But why Hillary Clinton?

“We have a clear link to Russia,” the California Republican said referring to the Democratic Party. “You have a campaign who hired a law firm, who hire Fusion GPS, who hired a foreign agent, who then got information from the Russians on the other campaign.”

Now he’s just saying any random thing to spin. He’s got nothing. Even for a desperate little toady like Nunes, however, this is a new level.

Nunes’ 4-page memo dropped on Friday, after a lot of hype. Hannity breathlessly proclaimed it would be worse than Watergate.

It just wasn’t.

The memo was supposed to show that the Justice Department obtained a FISA warrant on former Trump campaign aide, Carter Page, by deceptive means.

What it actually showed was, among other things, that an FBI counterintelligence investigation began with Trump aid, George Papadopoulos, after he boasted to an Australian official about Russia shopping dirt on Hillary Clinton.

As for the FISA warrant, the dossier put together by former British intelligence agent, Christopher Steele was used in the application for an initial warrant on another former Trump aide, Carter Page.

Page had been gone from the campaign for a month, at the time, and in fact, had been under scrutiny since 2013.

Also, the judge who granted the warrant was aware of the political origins of the dossier – something Nunes and company had attempted to say they did not know.

“It seems like the counterintelligence investigation should have been opened up against the Hillary campaign when they got ahold of the dossier,” Nunes said. “But that didn’t happen, either.”

They paid somebody for oppo-research. It’s not an unusual occurrence.

This was Nunes’ best “I know you are, but what am I?” moment.

He’s flailing, and it’s embarrassing.
