Breaking: America Still Doesn’t Have A Strategy In Syria

As promised, Redstate has returned with an update on America’s strategy in Syria. The White House issued a very short statement saying. “The military mission to eradicate ISIS in Syria is coming to a rapid end, with ISIS being almost completely destroyed. The United States and our partners remain committed to eliminating the small ISIS presence in Syria that our forces have not already eradicated. We will continue to consult with our allies and friends regarding future plans. We expect countries in the region and beyond, plus the United Nations, to work toward peace and ensure that ISIS never re-emerges.”

“with ISIS being almost completely destroyed” they’ve been almost destroyed for a really long time. President Obama not only degraded them but also “almost completely destroyed” ISIS. So, close guys. Almost there.

“ensure that ISIS never re-emerges” is a particularly annoying choice of words as the White House is well aware ISIS is seeking new battlefields all over the globe, notably in Africa and Southeast Asia.

This is not a policy. It is a statement released to shut the media up after President Trump shot off his mouth about getting out of Syria to get an applause line. It is understandable that Republicans and the White House would want the favorable optics of leaving Syria all together for the 2018 midterms, but it just isn’t in the cards.

America still does not have a strategy in Syria. The U.S. continues to sit along the Euphrates River doing a whole lot of nothing. For now calling it Operation Sasquatch seems fitting.
