CNN Personange Chris Cillizza Tweets Image of President Trump In Crosshairs

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

No one ever, as far as I can tell, accused CNN’s Chris Cillizza of being particularly bright or astute. But just as in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king, in the land of Jim Sciutto, Jim Acosta, Brian Stelter and Asha Rangappa, a nitwit provides the intellectual content.

Yesterday, Cillizza sent out this tweet:

WTF? Or, as P. J. O’Rourke would say, “I mean WT F-ing F” is that?

Not all that long ago, we were lectured by our moral superiors about the danger of hurty-pants metaphors. Shortly after Gabby Giffords was shot, Sarah Palin’s PAC was attacked for its violent imagery that contributed to the shooting. They had placed crosshairs on congressional districts to be targeted. And CNN was one of the outlets sniveling about violent imagery.

Keep in mind, the image that got CNN and its counterparts so exercised didn’t even include a person’s face. We all know what happened to the rodeo clown who wore an Obama mask. Can you imagine what would have happened if Fox News had superimposed crosshairs over Obama?

This is the rather non-plausible excuse:

Check CNN’s twitter feed for other examples of politicians in a gunsight. Good luck.

And from CNN:

CNN said the following in a statement to Fox News: “Chris has already addressed this issue publicly. The image in question is a framing mark used in film and video production to frame a shot. Nothing more. A producer who created the motion graphic inadvertently left that frame in the GIF. When it came to our attention, the tweet containing the GIF was deleted and replaced with explanation. There is nothing more to say.”

After a while, the “we don’t actually look and the sh** we’re sending out” excuse wears thin. And the idea that a “frame shot” is made to look like the image through a ambient light intensification system…like a night observation device or what used to be called a starlight scope…is simply to strange to credit.

The larger point here is that CNN has decided it is no longer a media outlet but, rather, the media arm of #TheResistance. It shows in stories they basically ignore and those they focus on. The coverage no longer makes a pretense at balance, it is relentless lopsided. And people notice.
