#ExposeCNN Part 2 (Full): CNN Leadership Picks Favorites Among 2020 Democratic Candidates, Least Fave is Tulsi Gabbard

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

On Tuesday, Project Veritas released Part 2 of their #ExposeCNN series. Whistleblower Cary Poarch tells viewers that he was a registered Democrat when he began working at CNN. During the 2016 Democratic primaries, he said he had campaigned and voted for Bernie Sanders.

Poarch was able to record CNN President Jeff Zucker’s daily 9am meetings where he issued his daily guidance to CNN staff members.

At one of these meetings, Zucker asked CNN Vice President and Political Director David Chalian if he thought CNN was taking Andrew Yang seriously enough.

Chalian replied, “Yeah, I mean, I think we – I don’t know why we wouldn’t take him – you know, most of these candidates seriously. We should definitely be looking at why Andrew Yang is resonating…Do I think he’s a likely nominee? No, I don’t.”

In another, Zucker suggested that CNN do a segment on Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’ call for President Trump’s Twitter account to be suspended. He says, “It’s not going to happen [Kamala winning the nomination], but I think it’s a good segment in the show… Not going to happen, but it’s a good talking – it’s a good segment.”

Nick Neville, CNN Media Coordinator is asked why the network didn’t broadcast Biden’s entire rally. He answers, “They probably think it’s boring… people would change the channel.” He’s right about that.

In another clip, several employees are discussing the network’s treatment of several of the candidates.

CNN’s Media Coordinator Christian Sierra, who we heard from yesterday, said it was unfair to focus on only a few of the candidates. He is asked, “Who is CNN unfairer against right now on the debate?”

Sierra responds, “Um, I think probably Yang and Klobuchar. One of the lesser ones. Just cause they’re going to talk about Biden more than Warren and Sanders. They’re not going to mention others…They want to cover the people who are on the top. They don’t want to cover the bottom.”

Poarch asks, “So, who does he [Zucker] want to be president?”

Sierra answers, “Here’s the thing, I don’t know. I think he wants a Democrat but I don’t think he has any particular favorite. Well, ‘cause here’s the thing, he donated before to Kamala Harris when she was running for Senate in California. Um, but, I think he kind of likes Pete, but I can tell he also likes Biden and Warren.”

Poarch asked Sierra if Zucker likes Biden. Sierra tells him he thinks so.

Then, Evan Perez, Senior Justice Correspondent weighs in, “Now I’ll tell you this. Joe Biden has a problem. Because his son was trading on his name. It looks bad. It smells bad. It’s not illegal. Nothing is illegal about it…How do you go and say that Donald Trump is the problem? Get him out of here, and convict him, when your son is doing the same shit.” (I posted about this exchange here.)

As for some of the other candidates:

The whistleblower asks Sierra “Who does CNN like?”

He tells him, “I think they like Warren a lot.”

Sierra continues, “They don’t like Tulsi. They don’t like Tulsi Gabbard. Because she supports Assad and she’s not taking a conventional route when it comes to one policy, stuff like that.”

Poarch sums it up by saying, “I just want us to have a free and fair election. That’s what it’s all about. Like we get information presented to us. We can, we can pull the lever for whoever we want. Again, left, right center, whatever. That’s the American dream. That’s what it should be. I don’t need to have some ideology shoved down my throat. That’s twisted in a way.”

I don’t think there was anything especially surprising or egregious about Part 2 of #ExposeCNN. The network’s leadership and staffers are merely stating their opinions about the field of 2020 hopefuls. Why would they want to cover unpopular candidates who have little chance of winning the nomination as often as the more viable among them? CNN is a business and businesses work for profits.

Part 1, which I posted about on Monday (here) had more meaty exchanges. Staffers discussed Zucker’s hatred and his “personal vendetta” for President Trump. In one segment, a staffer is heard saying he couldn’t believe CNN hasn’t taken down Trump yet. In another, an employee describes the scene at CNN on the night of Trump’s 2016 victory as funeral-like.

Zucker is heard making an incredibly tone-deaf remark about Fox News. He said:

I think what’s going on in America now is really fundamentally the result of years of fake news, conspiracy nonsense from Fox News. The fake conspiracy nonsense that Fox has spread for years is now deeply embedded into American society and frankly, that is beyond destructive for America.

He is also recorded telling staffers that it’s time to turn on Lindsay Graham. “So, I wanna say on the Lindsay Graham front. I know that there’s a lot of people at CNN who are friendly with Lindsay Graham. Time to knock that off and call him out.”

So far, I would say Project Veritas is 1 – 1. Part 1 was fairly interesting, but Part 2 was a bit of a wet weekend.

We’ll see what Part 3 brings.

Stay tuned.
