Stacy, a well known food expert who encourages cleaner healthier eating as seen on her website has produced an in depth product review and tutorial for the BLOW-PRO, an advanced culinary torch by SinSEARly cuisine of Temples Pride.

Valley Cottage, New York. If curiosity is usually what enters people’s minds when hearing of gadgets like a Culinary Torch then reading and watching Stacy’s explanation will certainly bring a better understanding as to what exactly a blow torch can be used for in the kitchen. They have done a good job at demonstrating many aspects of the Culinary torch. From filling, lighting and all the way to the many uses of a culinary torch.

With so many different choices on the market it can be very difficult to choose the kitchen torch that is right however with such a clear review such as Stacy’s all doubt and confusion becomes a thing of the past. In their review they start off by clearly demonstrating how to fill a Culinary torch using any standard butane found either at target or any hardware store. Once full they then go on to demonstrate the blow torch in use starting with the classic Cinnamon vanilla creme brulee which requires the use of a blow torch towards the end for the caramelization of the sugar glaze.  The second demonstration given is the toasting of marshmallows to either be eaten on their own or combined together with other snacks to make what is known as s’mores. S’mores are a sweet snack consisting of a chocolate bar and toasted marshmallows sandwiched between crackers. The final demonstration is the toasting of some vegetables, a combination of tomato garlic and green peppers which would be a good addition to a salad, pasta or any other dish you would normally eat those ingredients with but can instead give them a good toasting before adding them to your dish which will give them that much desired roasted flavour.

Following is a part of Stacy’s write up about her experience and thoughts on the BLOW-PRO torch and what she had to say

“I enjoyed using the Ultimate Culinary Torch kitchen gadget, and it was not as scary and intimidating as I had thought it would be. I was very impressed with how well made it is and how beautifully it works on caramelizing desserts, searing steaks, charring vegetables, browning cheesy casserole crusts, browning meringues, and roasting marshmallows. The only issue I had, being a newbie to culinary torches, was finding the right sized can of butane fuel that will fit properly on the torch to fill it. The first can I bought was the wrong size, but the second smaller can with a long small nozzle worked like a charm. This is a very cool kitchen gadget, and should be kept completely out of reach of children, or anyone that might use this improperly.”

Stacy then went on to finish off by stating some pro’s and con’s about the BLOW-PRO™ which are as follows:

A well made, sturdy, professional torch.
A safety lock feature
Sears, browns, caramelizes, and chars food beautifully
Easy to use
Attractive design
reasonably priced

Was a bit difficult to find the right sized butane fuel can in the store for filling the product. There were a few different sized butane cans with different sized nozzles. (It would be better to include a small can with the product, or describe the size in the directions)

We contacted Temples Pride and asked their opinion on the the ‘Cons” as stated in Stacy’s review and a top spokesperson was quoted as saying;

“We thank and completely take on board what the professionals at beautyandthefoodie have said and agree that it would be of great benefit to include a canister of butane in every order of a blow-pro™ and that is exactly what we are working on at the moment, however, given the difficulties in mailing flammable gasses there is bit more red tape required to go through. We are though working through it and hope to soon be including a butane canister in every order very soon.”
