Author William Handwerker will meet with Guests and Sign Copies of His Book
[Greenvale, New York] – Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers’ Greenvale location is hosting a book signing and Q&A with William Handwerker, author of Nathan’s Famous-The First 100, on Sunday, November 13 at 4:30p.m. The grandson of the legendary Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs brand founder, Mr. Handwerker will discuss the business strategies that led to the success of his grandfather, Nathan Handwerker.
Most everyone knows Nathan’s for its hot dogs and crinkle cut fries, but few know the story of how the company came to be the international enterprise it is today. In addition to featuring the life of the elder Handwerker, who immigrated to Brooklyn in the early 20th Century, Nathan’s Famous-The First 100 is a strong symbol of the journey of all Jewish immigrants and their assimilation into America. The book also dives into the trials and tribulations of the food service and restaurant business, including what it took for Nathan Handwerker to grow his business from a sole proprietorship, with one location, into a world-famous corporation.
Additionally, readers will discover how much thought and planning Nathan Handwerker put into the production and distribution of his famous hot dogs, down to the ingredients and baking process of the rolls and the cooking style of the fries with which it is served, while still keeping it affordable for families.
A former Nathan’s employee himself, William Handwerker began working for the company at age 13, where he remained for almost three decades. By the time he retired in 1996, William was the last Handwerker in the Nathan’s organization.
During the meet-and-greet event, William Handwerker will answer guests’ questions and sign copies of his book, which will be available for sale. For more information, visit www.bensdeli.net.
