Analysis: Wide-Sweeping Executive Order Cause for Alarm

WASH–Mar 19–DJNS–In a wide-sweeping Executive Order issued Friday, March 16, the man who occupies the Oval Office under the guise of “Defense Resource Preparedness” has ordered the nationalization of all of America’s natural resources, energy, private industry, property, transportation, food resources, health supplies, farm equipment, and technology–even all potable water. The 34 page Executive Order spells out how the president has delegated authority to various agencies such as Homeland Security for the procurement of goods and services “during peacetime, graduated mobilization and national emergency.” Additionally, corporate executives can be conscripted without pay to provide expertise to the government.

Authority for this action, according to the Executive Order, is derived from the Truman-era Defense Production Act of 1950 (DPA) which was passed by Congress to provide defense readiness in case of an attack on the nation or an emergency requiring defense mobilization. The DPA placed America’s civilian industry in a war-ready posture. Congress parked the DPA in what is called a “title 50’s appendix” where only laws of a temporary nature relating to national defense reside. Congress renewed the DPA as late as 2007, but it appears that this president may have reinstated titles that lapsed in 1953 providing power to requisition and condemn civilian property, stabilize wages and prices, and settle labor disputes.

There is cause for great alarm in this Executive Order because it is unnecessary except to establish how new government agencies should coordinate defense preparedness under the 1950 DPA. This president, however, appears to have subtly expanded the depth of powers where every aspect of life, liberty, property and human sustenance are subservient to the federal government. If exercised in an authoritative manner, it appears that the White House could flip the switch from a free society to totalitarianism, using the homeland radicalization as a minimal justification. Every aspect of the Constitutional Bill of Rights could be suspended if this Executive Order is allowed to stand.

Given the White House-directed 2009 Homeland Security assessment that conservative Christians are “right wing extremists”; that there have been requests for proposals on FEMA camp activations; that the Defense Authorization Act opened the door for American citizens to be held without due process; that the TSA is expanding its authority to include highway check points; that the government is conducting joint police-military door to door training in neighborhoods; that the Administration is supporting an internet “kill switch”; that this Administration has ignored Congressional objections in supporting Islamist takeovers of Middle Eastern nations; no imagination is needed to see what could be on the horizon.

So-called “experts” and “legal commentators” are trying to downplay concerns, saying the Executive Order is no different than that of Bill Clinton or George W Bush. This should not alter opinions because if one is wrong, they all are wrong. Americans are the first to do what is right to defend this nation. Only organizational planning is necessary to ensure that defense in an orderly and efficient manner. Executive Orders such as this are dictatorships in the making. Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn.” In America, we the people have the authority to hold our government accountable. If we do not, it will be a time of mourning.
