Who is the King of the West? Why is there no Final End-Time King of the West in Bible Prophecy?

Students of Bible prophecy are aware that the the Bible talks about end-time kings of the North (Daniel 11:40), South (Daniel 11:40), and East (Revelation 16:12). Yet, Bible prophecy students are aware that the Bible does not mention an end-time “king of the west” by name.

But is there a “King of the West”? If so, what happens to this king?

Is the United States of America (USA) and/or Great Britain (UK, officially now called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) mentioned in end-time prophecy? If so or if not, what happens to the USA and the UK?

Is There a King of the West?

While the USA does not officially have royalty, it is the leading power in the world today. It is a nation that is west of Jerusalem, and in those senses it is the “King of the West.”

The USA has essentially been the King of the West since sometime between the first and second world wars when Great Britain ceased to essentially hold that position. Others noted that after World War II, “The U.S. was now the de facto leader of the West” (Shah A. Control of Resources; Supporting Dictators, Rise of Terrorism. Global Issues, December 30, 2002. http://www.globalissues.org/article/260/control-of-resources-supporting-dictators-rise-of-terrorism viewed 05/03/2011) And many currently recognized that, “America is the leader of the West” (Chiu E. Emily’s Islam, Media, and the West Blog. September 29, 2008. http://blogs.nyu.edu/blogs/eyc221/ila/2008/09/ viewed 0503/2011). The “United States” is “the leader of the west” (Cox RW. A Canadian Dilemma: The United States or the World. International Journal. Vol. 60, No. 3, Summer, 2005, pp. 667-684. http://www.jstor.org/pss/40204055 viewed 05/03/11).

Although the terms United States of America and Great Britain are not specifically mentioned in the Bible, Bible prophecy does foretell of the blessings that the descendants of Jacob would have.

Notice these prophecies for the latter days by Jacob:

1 And Jacob called his sons and said, “Gather together, that I may tell you what shall befall you in the last days:

2 “Gather together and hear, you sons of Jacob, And listen to Israel your father…

22 “Joseph is a fruitful bough, A fruitful bough by a well; His branches run over the wall.
23 The archers have bitterly grieved him, Shot at him and hated him.
24 But his bow remained in strength, And the arms of his hands were made strong
By the hands of the Mighty God of Jacob (From there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel),
25 By the God of your father who will help you, And by the Almighty who will bless you
With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.
26 The blessings of your father Have excelled the blessings of my ancestors, Up to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills.
They shall be on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers (Genesis 49:1-2,22-26).

It is only the United States and the groups of English nations now composed of the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand who have historically fulfilled these prophecies given to Abraham and his descendants (and they are separated from their “brothers” on continental Europe). In these latter days they have been prosperous, though they are now in a period of decline.

Perhaps it should be pointed out that a “fruitful bough” with “branches run over the wall” implies a colonizing people–and perhaps no peoples did more colonizing than the British.

Jacob also taught:

16 Bless the lads; Let my name be named upon them, And the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth…

19 “…He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.” 20 So he blessed them that day, saying, “By you Israel will bless, saying, ‘May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh!’ ” (Genesis 48:19-20).

It should also be mentioned that since Jacob’s name was changed to Israel (Genesis 32:28), that in the first statement above he is clearly indicating that biblically one or both of the sons of Joseph could be referred to by the name Israel.  And although Manasseh was born first, God had Jacob give the “right hand” blessing to Ephraim (Genesis 48:13-14) and God later declared, “Ephraim is my firstborn” (Jeremiah 31:9).  This may be why Ephraim emerged as a major power before the USA (and of course it lost its position as the top international power).

Notice what God promised to Sarah’s grandson Jacob:

14 Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed (Genesis 28:14).

11 Also God said to him: “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body (Genesis 35:11).

Thus it should be clear to those willing to see that the descendants of Jacob would include multiple nations, and not be limited to just the area of Palestine.  The old British Commonwealth would seem to fit the description of “a company of nations”.  And the nations of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand still do to this day. Those with Anglo-Saxon minorities (in the Caribbean, Asia, and Southern Africa) have since lost control to the non-Israelites among them (cf. Deuteronomy 28:43).

And while the British descended nations are in various parts of the world, it is interesting to note that “west” was the first direction mentioned in the prophecy in Genesis 28:14.

The USA and Great Britain have essentially ruled the world for the past two plus centuries. And despite, sometimes often terrible mistakes they both made, through them “families of the earth” were blessed (for more on their identities in Bible prophecy, please see the article Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).

Why Were the USA and United Kingdom Blessed in the Past Couple of Centuries?

One question that arises, is why did the blessings of wealth and influence for the two major western powers begin only a couple of centuries ago?

This is a somewhat complex subject, and instead of me laying out all the complicate reasons, let’s simply look at what the late evangelist John Ogwyn wrote about that:

What were the seven times of Israel’s punishment promised in Leviticus 26:18? If this indicated a duration of time, how long was it to last? Understanding the significance of Israel’s seven times punishment opens up history to far deeper meaning than you have probably ever understood before.

First, let us answer the question concerning the length of the “seven times.” How many days would “seven times” be? In Revelation 11 and 12 we find keys to understanding this.

Revelation 11:2–3 equates two periods of time: 42 months and 1,260 days. This is simple to understand, as there are exactly 1,260 days in 42 months of 30 days. In Revelation 12:6 we find another mention of 1,260 days, but this time that figure is paralleled in verse 14 by the term, “time, times, and half a time.” We have already seen that 1,260 days is equated with 42 months, which is exactly three-and-a-half years. Clearly then, the Bible equates “time, times and half a time” with a three-and-a half-year period of 1,260 days.

“Seven times” is double the length of “time, times, and half a time” (or three-and-a-half years). Therefore, seven times would represent a duration of 2,520 days (twice the length of the 1,260 days). How long a period of punishment upon Israel would these 2,520 days represent in Bible prophecy? To understand this, look at another incident of punishment on Israel. Numbers 13 and 14 give the account of Moses sending 12 spies, one from each tribe, to investigate the Promised Land. Ten of the spies brought back an evil report that discouraged the people and caused them to refuse to enter the land. God was greatly displeased with the people’s lack of faith. Notice the consequences that followed: “According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for each day you shall bear your guilt one year, namely forty years, and you shall know My rejection ['breach of promise' KJV]” (Numbers 14:34).

Israel’s disobedience led to a 40-year delay in entering the Promised Land and inheriting the promises God had made to their ancestors. The 40 years of punishment were figured on the principle of a day for a year. A similar point is made in Ezekiel 4 about punishment on Judah and on Israel. In this account, the prophet Ezekiel was told to lie upon his left side each day for 390 days to symbolize the duration of God’s punishment upon Israel. Then, he was told to turn and to lie upon his right side each day for 40 days in order to show the punishment of Judah. Next, Ezekiel was told: “I have laid on you a day for each year” (v. 6). In other words, once again a day equaled a year in the fulfillment of certain Bible prophecies…

Seven prophetic times 2,520 years went by from the time of Samaria’s fall and Israel’s captivity in 721bc. This brings us to 1800ad and the time when, according to scripture, Abraham’s descendants would begin coming into possession of the birthright promises. The remarkable story that unfolded in the history of the English-speaking people after 1800 is astounding. (Ogwyn J. The United States and Great Britain in Prophecy. Charlotte booklet)

So, that brings us to 1800. So, then what? John Ogwyn continues:

Still, when 1800 came, England and her former American colonies, the fledgling United States, possessed only a small portion of the world’s land and wealth. In Europe, Napoleon was attempting to put together a vast continental empire with France at its head. Instead of that effort being successful, however, something altogether different occurred.

Over the following decades, England emerged in possession of the vast British Empire. It was the largest that the world had ever seen. Over one quarter of the world’s land and people were under the British flag by the end of the 19th century. The United States, in 1800 still clinging to the eastern seacoast, had completely spanned the North American continent within five decades. The most powerful company of nations, the British Empire, and the greatest single nation, the United States, emerged right on schedule. The year 1800 marked the time when the 2,520 years of withholding the birthright concluded…

Over the course of the 19th century, Great Britain came into the possession of territory in every far-flung corner of the earth. Among these possessions were virtually all of the strategic sea-gates. Possessing the “gates of their enemies” was one of the blessings that God had promised to Abraham on behalf of his descendants. These narrow passages, through which sea traffic had to pass, were of inestimable value, both in terms of commercial value of trade and for security purposes during the two world wars of the 20th century. British control of the Suez Canal and the Straits of Gibraltar as well as of the strategic Isle of Malta was crucial to Allied control of the Mediterranean during World War II.

With Australia, New Zealand and Canada, Great Britain came into possession of some of the richest agricultural land on earth. The vast fields of grain and the innumerable herds of sheep and cattle represented a fulfillment of God’s ancient promises to Abraham. In addition, there was the vast mineral wealth of Canada, Australia, and South Africa. Britain itself came to control much of the Middle Eastern oil reserves. Her possessions and pipelines there helped provide the Allies the oil that was needed to fight World War II.

Overall, British influence was beneficial for the whole world, just as God anciently prophesied that it would be. It was the British Navy that wiped out the international slave trade in the early 19th century. The British and Foreign Bible Society, headquartered in London, was responsible for the Bible being translated into virtually every language and made available for the first time to peoples all over the earth.

John Ogwyn then mentioned a bit about the USA:

What of the United States of America? Are the American people also truly descended from ancient Israel? Look at the plain record of history.

The first permanent English settlement in what is now the United States was Jamestown, Virginia in 1607. A few years later the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts. Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries settlers from the British Isles flowed into what became the United States. Actually, as Professor David Fischer points out in his important book, Albion’s Seed, there were four main waves of immigration during those two centuries to the future United States. These waves of migration had their origin in specific parts of the British Isles and came to particular areas of the American colonies.

New England, for instance, was settled primarily by immigrants from East Anglia. Certain parishes of this south-eastern part of England were almost emptied of population between 1629 and 1641, as whole family groups migrated en masse…Overwhelmingly, the immigrants who settled the United States before the Civil War came from northwestern Europe. Most were from either the British Isles or certain parts of northern Germany. These immigrants established the character of the American nation and have provided most of the nation’s leadership until this day. Even some whose ancestors immigrated later from other parts of Europe may well have Israelitish background. After all, the prophecy was made by Amos that the House of Israel would be sifted through the nations like corn through a sieve, but not a grain would be lost (Amos 9:9).

Beginning in 1803 with the Louisiana Purchase, the United States began a rapid territorial expansion that led to its spanning the continent within one generation. The territory acquired by purchase from Napoleon, at less than a nickel an acre, included the richest farmland on earth the American Midwest…Additionally, with the acquisition of the Panama Canal and various island dependencies gained in the latter 19th century, the United States has also possessed the gates of its enemies. The United States, in combination with Great Britain, controlled virtually every strategic passageway on earth through most of the 19th and 20th centuries.

At their pinnacles, the American and British nations have possessed or controlled an overwhelming share of the world’s wealth. There are simply no other nations that can even compare with the wealth and power that has been exercised by the English-speaking peoples.

So, essentially, because of prophecies in the Bible, the “kings of the West” were not expected to rise up until a couple of centuries ago, but according to this interpretation of Bible prophecy, that is why they became powerful when they did.

The reality is that for much of the past couple of centuries, the Anglo-powers have been the “king of the West” if there ever was one. And since just prior to World War II, the USA itself primarily has been in a position to be the King of the West.

But what will happen to the USA and its Anglo-descended allies?

Is the United States of America Mentioned in Bible Prophecy for the End-Time?

As I mentioned before, expressions like the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States are not specifically used in the Bible (Note: a variant of the term British/Britain seems to be in scripture–for more on that see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel). Though not obvious to all, there are several end-time prophecies in the Bible that seem to be referring to the USA and its Anglo-allies.

Let’s review a few of them, along with a few from outside the Bible.

One is Daniel 11:29-30, yet few would tend to think of this because of how one word is normally translated. The Bible shows at “the appointed time” which is very near the end, something will trigger the King of the North (the “he” below) to go towards the south:

29 At the appointed time he shall return and go toward the south; but it shall not be like the former or the latter. 30 For ships from Cyprus shall come against him; therefore he shall be grieved, and return in rage against the holy covenant, and do damage. So he shall return and show regard for those who forsake the holy covenant (Daniel 11:29-30).

The Hebrew term translated as “Cyprus” in the NKJV is somewhat of a mistranslation. The KJV uses the term Chittim (which is also spelled Kittim) which signifies “western lands” (see The Nelson Study Bible, page 1441 and The Ryrie Study Bible, page 1359). Hence, the BIble shows that the King of the North will apparently be temporarily stopped by a Western naval power.

For several reasons, this Western naval power seems to be the United States.

1. The United States is west of Jerusalem.
2. The United States is a major naval power.
3. Although Latin America is also west of Jerusalem, it (even when all the nations that compose it are combined) would not seem to have enough of a naval force to stop the European king’s approach (plus, since Latin America shares culture, languages, and religion with Europe, it will most likely be allied with the King of the North either at this time or shortly thereafter).
4. The Bible shows that the problems from the kings that are north and east of the King of the North do not occur until verse 44 of Daniel 11, hence once they are eliminated as possibilities.

This pretty much only leaves that United States and its English-speaking allies as the only possible naval power that could deter the King of the North at this stage.

Perhaps it may be of some interest to report that a European leader known as the Great Monarch in some Catholic prophecies (King of the North in biblical ones) is claimed to ultimately take over the West (and other places):

Venerable Bartholomew Holzhauser (died 1658): There will rise a valiant monarch…His dominion will extend from the East to the West. (Connor, Edward. Prophecy for Today. Imprimatur + A.J. Willinger, Bishop of Monterey-Fresno; Reprint: Tan Books and Publishers, Rockford (IL), 1984, pp.35-36)

Saint Cataldus of Tarentino (c. 500): The Great Monarch will be in war till he is forty years of age….he will assemble great armies and expel tyrants from his empire. He will conquer England and other island empires (Connor, p.30).

Priest Gobbi (November 15, 1990): Mary spoke about the great trial coming to the United States and for all humanity.  The Blessed Mother specifically mentions the United States will know the hour of weakness and of poverty as well as “the hour of suffering and defeat”…Sins of impurity have become ever more widespread, and immorality has spread like a sea which has submerged all things. Homosexuality, a sin of impurity which is against nature, has been justified; recourse to the means of preventing life have become commonplace, while abortions,–these killings of innocent children–have spread and are performed in all areas of your homeland. The moment of divine justice and of great mercy has now arrived. You will know the hour of weakness and poverty; the hour of suffering and defeat; the purifying hour of the great chastisement…(Flynn, Ted and Maureen. The Thunder of Justice. MaxKol Communications, Inc. Sterling (VA), 1993, pp. 341,342).

Werdin d’ Otrante (13th century): The Great Monarch and the Great Pope will precede Antichrist…The capital of the world will fall. (Connor, p. 33).

The “capital of the world” in a sense is the United States. Hence, certain non-biblical prophecies seem to indicate the destruction of the Anglo-Western peoples (for more on some of them, please see Catholic Prophecies: Do They Mirror, Highlight, or Contradict Biblical Prophecies?; see also Mary, the Mother of Jesus and the Apparitions).

The Bible itself tells of the end-time period of trouble for those descended from Jacob:

7 Alas! For that day is great,
So that none is like it;
And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble,
But he shall be saved out of it.

8 ‘For it shall come to pass in that day,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
‘That I will break his yoke from your neck,
And will burst your bonds;
Foreigners shall no more enslave them. (Jeremiah 30:7-8)

Notice that before they are saved out of it, the descendants of Jacob will be enslaved by foreigners (see also Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?)

This is the Great Tribulation that Jesus referred to in Matthew 24:21. It begins shortly after the abomination of desolation spoken by Daniel (11:31) happens according to Jesus (Matthew 24:15).

It seems to begin with the following from the Book of Daniel (the “he” is the King of the North):

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain (Daniel 11:39).

Who has the strongest fortresses?

The strongest fortresses in the world belong to the USA and to a much lessor extent, its English-speaking allies (for a more detailed explanation of why the USA and its Anglo-allies are involved, as well as the dividing of their lands, please see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel). Isaiah warns that “The fortress also will cease from Ephraim” (Isaiah 17:3)–but unlike Manasseh, Ephraim simply does not have the strongest fortresses.

This passage about the strongest fortresses in Daniel 11:39 cannot be referring to the Europeans as they support the King of the North, nor can it be referring to the Russians, Chinese, or other Asians as they do not get involved until verse 44 of Daniel 11.

People who have faith that the USA will continue and get through all of this should ask themselves,  “Why?”  

The USA is west of Jerusalem, in a major sense is currently the “King of the West”, and apparently is the Western naval power of Daniel 11:30–yet no King of the West seems to exist after the King of the North eliminates those with the strongest fortresses (Daniel 11:39). Yet, there still are end-time kings of the North (Daniel 11:40), South (Daniel 11:40), and East (Revelation 16:12).

Unless the English-speaking peoples repent of their sins the Bible teaches that their nations will be destroyed (see also Hosea 8:1-13). These English-speaking peoples are becoming the most indebted nations of all time and the Bible shows that those who load themselves with pledges will have their creditors rise up against them suddenly and destroyed them (see Habakkuk 2:6-7). For those who disbelieve that the Europeans can do this, I will simply add that the Bible states that the Assyrians (whose descendants are in Europe) will not intend to destroy, but will do it anyway (Isaiah 10:5-7) (see also Europa, the Beast, and Revelation).

Although the USA is the power behind the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the Bible clearly warns that the one who was “great among the nations” has “become a slave” and was “dealt treacherously” by “her friends” (Lamentations 1:1-2). The Europeans will help fulfill those prophecies and this will not end up well for the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Regarding NATO, it has long been my view that the USA and/or UK may be attacked under the guise of some type of NATO training exercise. The existence of NATO gives the Europeans cover for publicly preparing for a military event, while being able to publicly state that the preparation is only part of an exercise. The Germans have historically used the element of surprise to gain military advantage and that is what I expect based upon various biblical prophecies. 

Notice three:

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes (1 Thessalonians 5:3)

22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, When You bring a troop suddenly upon them; (Jeremiah 18:22)

6 ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his — how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? (Habakkuk 2:6-7)

The USA is the most indebted nation in the history of humanity, and that will not end well. Also, the more that the Europeans spend on their military (especially technology, see European Technology and the Beast of Revelation), the more equipped they will become to fulfill various prophecies that will not end well for the USA and its Anglo-Saxon allies..

The Bible shows that the descendants of Jacob will be enslaved by foreigners (Jeremiah 30:8; for more details, see also Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?) until the start of Christ’s reign. And while the gospel warning message will be made quite clear to the English-speaking peoples prior to Daniel 11:38 and the Great Tribulation, because the Anglo-American nations are not likely to heed that warning, they will have to answer for their lack of response (cf. Ezekiel 33:7-9).

What Triggers the End of the King of the West?

But what triggers this attack?

Let’s briefly look at another warning in Isaiah 30:12-13:

12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel:

“Because you despise this word, And trust in oppression and perversity, And rely on them,  13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you Like a breach ready to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant.

Of course, more and more, the Anglo-American nations are trusting in policies that encourage perversity. Now that is the reason.

As far as the when, notice Habakkuk 2:3,6,7, which is consistent with Isaiah 30:12-13, also teaches that the destruction will be sudden. And it mentions that this destruction will happen to those that increased their debt at the end times:

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

The above prophecy will be fulfilled at the time of the end (cf. “The message was true, but the appointed time was long…in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come”, Daniel 10:1,14). Daniel 8:19, 11:27,29,35 use same the Hebrew term for “appointed time” as Habakkuk 2:3, while Daniel 10, using a different term, ties the latter days to the time in Daniel 8:19. Habakkuk 2 was not fulfilled in its entirety anciently. Also, it makes little sense that Habakkuk would be directed towards the modern nation of Israel as it does not have enemy creditors. It must be a nation or group of nations with some prominence at the appointed time of the end.

This problem will cause sudden destruction among those who are spiritually drunk:

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. (1 Thessalonians 5:3-7)

Notice that both Paul and Habakkuk seem to have tied drunkenness in with this sudden calamity (so did Jesus in Luke 21:34-35). Truly the Anglo-nations are not spiritually sober.

Notice how Ezekiel’s writings confirm that those who made profits improper will be punished:

13 “Behold, therefore, I beat My fists at the dishonest profit which you have made, and at the bloodshed which has been in your midst. 14 Can your heart endure, or can your hands remain strong, in the days when I shall deal with you? I, the Lord, have spoken, and will do it. 15 I will scatter you among the nations, disperse you throughout the countries, and remove your filthiness completely from you. (Ezekiel 22:13-15)

Borrowing money that will not be paid back is a “dishonest profit” which the American and British peoples have been living on for the past several years. They will be scattered for this and their filthiness (see also Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided?). Sexual immorality and abortion are simply some outward signs of this filthiness.

While sin is ultimately the cause of why the USA and its Anglo-allies are eliminated, debt seems to be a final factor that causes them to be eliminated.

Is the Leader of the West Mentioned in Islamic Prophecy?

While I rely on biblical prophecy, it may be of interest to note that a leader of the West is mentioned in Islamic prophecy.

There is an old Shiite prophecy about “the new leader of the West” that seems to fit Barack Hussein Obama personally. Notice what Forbes’ writer Amir Taheri reported:

…a pro-government Web site published a Hadith (or tradition) from a Shiite text of the 17th century. The tradition comes from Bahar al-Anvar (meaning Oceans of Light) by Mullah Majlisi, a magnum opus in 132 volumes and the basis of modern Shiite Islam.

According to the tradition, Imam Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (the prophet’s cousin and son-in-law) prophesied that at the End of Times and just before the return of the Mahdi, the Ultimate Saviour, a “tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West.” Commanding “the strongest army on earth,” the new ruler in the West will carry “a clear sign” from the third imam, whose name was Hussein Ibn Ali. The tradition concludes: “Shiites should have no doubt that he is with us.”

In a curious coincidence Obama’s first and second names–Barack Hussein–mean “the blessing of Hussein” in Arabic and Persian. His family name, Obama, written in the Persian alphabet, reads O Ba Ma, which means “he is with us,” the magic formula in Majlisi’s tradition (for more details, please see Barack Obama in Islamic Prophecy?).

Since we are near the end of times and Barack Hussein Obama is considered to be black and he now the “ruler in the West” and he now leads the” strongest army on earth”, it makes sense that a lot of Shiite Muslims apparently believe that he may fit that Islamic prophecy. And of course, that prophecy suggests that the West as we know it will be eliminated while he is in office as supposedly he will help the Hidden Muslim Imam conquer the world.

According to the text that is the foundation of modern Shiite Islam, a prophecy that a tall black man would rule the West portends the coming of the Islamic redeemer.

Regardless of where it came from, is that a specific Barack Obama prophecy?

That is difficult to know for certain, other than to say that some Shiites seem to believe that their writings have Barack Hussein Obama in prophecy (others have challenged the integrity of Amir Taheri’s writings). And the fact that his name also seems to closely fit that prophecy suggests that he may. And while in I do not believe that Barack Hussein Obama himself believes that “he is with us” (as “o bama” apparently means in Persian) refers to him in that prophecy, the fact is that no other USA president has ever been as close to Muslims as President Obama.

There is also a biblical prophecy in Psalm 83 that indicates that some currently Muslim lands will plot along with a European power to do the descendants of Israel in (see also Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?). This seems to be somewhat consistent with that Muslim prophecy (see also The Arab and Islamic World In the Bible, History, and Prophecy). There are also Catholic prophecies that tell of the elimination of the English-speaking nations (for details, please see the article Catholic Prophecies: Do They Mirror, Highlight, or Contradict Biblical Prophecies?).

The Time of Israel as Well as its Captivity Will End

For much of the past two hundred years, the time of the Israelite Anglo-nations of the United Kingdom and the United States have dominated the world.

This will end. Notice a writing from the late Herbert W. Armstrong:

What is this abomination? This refers to Daniel 11:31 and Matthew 24:15…From this time (Daniel 12:11) to Christ’s coming will be 1290 days. Now, verse 12, “Blessed is he that waiteth, and comes to the 1335 days.” Never before have we understood these periods of 1260, 1290. and 1335 days. But it seems evident, now, a blessing is pronounced on us–GOD”S CHURCH–who wait and endure until the 1335 days–approximately 1335 days prior to Christ’s coming…That will be a time when the UNITED Europe shall appear–the revival of the medieval “Holy Roman Empire”…Forty-five days later “the beast’s armies” will surround Jerusalem. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities. The GREAT TRIBULATION, we shall fully then realize, is the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” spoken of in Jeremiah 30:7. And Jacob’s name was named on Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:16). At that time a third of the people in our nations will die, or shall have died, by famine and disease epidemics; another third will dies of the war–our cities being destroyed (Ezek. 6:6), and the remaining third will be carried to the land of our enemies as slaves (Ezek. 5:12). During the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7) is when the times of the Gentiles to rise up and take over will be fulfilled (Ezekiel 30:1-3; Jeremiah 10:25; Luke 21:23-24) (for more on the time of the Gentiles see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin? 2011, 2012, or 2013?).

There will be no King of the West.

That is why many who look into Bible prophecy are rightly convinced that by the time Jesus returns there is no power resembling the United States left–the USA will have been taken over years before.

While scripture teaches that the USA and its Anglo-allies will be taken over and become captives, the Bible also shows that this scattering and captivity will end:

47 Save us, O Lord our God, And gather us from among the Gentiles…(Psalms 106:47)

11 For I am with you,’ says the Lord, ‘to save you; Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, Yet I will not make a complete end of you. But I will correct you in justice, And will not let you go altogether unpunished.’ (Jeremiah 30:11)

10 “Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, And declare it in the isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Israel will gather him, And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’ 11 For the Lord has redeemed Jacob, And ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he. (Jeremiah 31:10-11)

16 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Although I have cast them far off among the Gentiles, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet I shall be a little sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.”‘ 17 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”‘ 18 And they will go there, and they will take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there. 19 Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, 20 that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God. (Ezekiel 11:16-21)

33 “As I live,” says the Lord God, “surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, I will rule over you. 34 I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out. 35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will plead My case with you face to face. 36 Just as I pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will plead My case with you,” says the Lord God. (Ezekiel 20:33-36)

22 The punishment of your iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; He will no longer send you into captivity. (Lamentations 4:22)

The passages from Ezekiel were never fulfilled by the Jews returning to the Middle East. It is a prophecy for the future. It will affect the USA and its Anglo-allies. And it will come to pass.

So, while the King of the West will be destroyed, 3 1/2 years after the start of the Great Tribulation, God will stop that punishment and those who were once part of this King of the West will realize that they can (and should) walk in the statutes of God.

The USA and, currently to a lessor degree, its Anglo-allies are the King of the West. They will not exist as they now do when Jesus returns because they will have been taken over years prior to then. But ultimately those that survive will repent and turn to God.

Please do not wait until then. The time to repent is now.
