The Hare Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R) is a diagnostic tool used to rate a person’s psychopathic or antisocial tendencies. It was developed in the 1970’s by Dr. Robert Hare, a Canadian professor and researcher renowned in criminal psychology, who has spent three decades studying the concept known as the psychopath and based partly on Hare’s work with prison inmates in Vancouver.

They live among us, undetected. Experts believe between one and two per cent of the general adult male population are psychopaths, which means there could be 300,000 of them in Canada alone. The ‘successful’ psychopath could be your neighbour, your boss, your spouse, or your friend.

Ironically, the ruthless winner-take-all ethos of North American culture nurtures and rewards psychopathy. Charming, manipulative and ruthless, these are the “snakes in suits” who don’t rob the bank, but instead become a director of it. These “successful psychopaths” — those who attain prominent positions in society — may be overrepresented in certain occupations, such as politics, entertainment and business.

I am vaguely paranoid I’m a psycho the more I think on it the less it matters though. You’re far more likely to be killed in a crime of passion by a boring over-emotional person than by a psychopath. All people are doing is stigmatizing the mentally ill by getting all up-in-arms over something that occurs in 1 out of 1000 people. I’ve met truly despicable people

Society makes people into “psychos” usually starting from youth on. The majority of them wouldn’t give you a passing thought unless you did something to piss them off; they still love (in many ways deeper than regular people) and being an antisocial sociopath doesn’t instantly mean you’re a killer not one bit. You are just be able to kill without it nagging at you. I’m proud of my flexible morals; maybe I’ll move in next door to you!
