Emanuel Swedenborg – Universal Genius

Emanuel Swedenborg was a Swedish prodigy and a noble man born in 1688. He was the son of a famous Swedish Bishop and Professor who could communicate with spirits and angels. At an early age Emanuel showed great talents and he was enrolled at Uppsala University at the age of eleven. Already as a child Emmanuel was famous for telling ”truths” that impressed adults. He could hold his breath for several minutes during prayer and had a deep spiritual connection already as a child. These talents would later be exploited to develop some of the most stunning supernormal abilities ever heard of.

Emanuel eventually masterred nine languages and nine different professions and from a young age he tried to develop at least one new invention per day. He was offered the post of Professorship in Mathematics at Uppsala University but declined it with his characteristic humility. He was perhaps the key person to develop the Falun copper mines, which were the biggest of Europe at the time.

Emanuel was deeply interested in spiritual matters and one day while having a meal in a London restaurant the Lord came to him and his third eye(spiritual eye) opened up during his meal. From that day on his life changed and he started his great work to try to explain the true meaning of Christianity to people. He wrote tens of thousands of pages and explained the secrets of Heaven, Hell, the Last Judgment, the future world religion, True Christianity etc. His works are so extensive and logical that people never could reject them with any rational arguments. Swedenborg has been called ”Buddha of the North” for good reasons and there were people who called him mad – but what else could they do in order to black him? You can never become a prophet in your home country and that also applied to Swedenborg who escaped to other countries.

How to go to Heaven?

In this article we will only focus on the paramount question for all human beings:

How can I assure that I go to heaven after passing away?

First of all we need to touch on the fundamental question: What is faith?

In Swedenborg’s view, faith is inseparable from charity, meaning action.

For Swedenborg, “faith” is not an intellectual belief or assurance that something is true. Rather, faith is the belief that we live by in our daily actions. In this, he is very much in line with the Apostle James’s views on faith:

”What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” (James 2:14–17)

By saying that you believe in Jesus you only have the potential for going to heaven and the real issue is whether you can follow Jesus instructions from the Bible and live for others – proven by your actions in daily life.

Then how can we act well so that we go to Heaven? This is the essential question and Swedenborg had a very simple answer.

The most important teaching of Jesus, is found in Matthew 22:35-40:

”One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?”

He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

The reason to love the Lord is that without him your soul(and human life) would not exist. In the human level this law is reflected as respecting and loving your parents since without your parents you would not be able to have a human body.

Do more good deeds and trust Heaven– there is a Lord caring for you

Faith is not only lip service, it is only a beginning and the real question is whether you really can love the Lord, your fellow Man and Yourself in your daily actions. According to Swedenborg, how well you do these things decide where you go. And Heaven is not just one place, it has many levels so there are beings at all the different levels of Heaven(and Hell too..) depending on how good or evil they were in their human life. Everything is very scientific and orderly in Heaven according to Swedenborg. We are measured every day by our actions and the Lord knows all that we do.

All People in the World can go to Heaven – not only Christians

 All people can go to Heaven no matter their ethnicity or religion

Swedenborg stated that any person who loves God – which has different names in different countries – and lives by his rules can go to Heaven and it doesn´t matter which religion they follow. Swedenborg also said that the trinity is the greatest falsity of modern Christianity since there is only one God and one being to worship – and that being can manifest himself in any way he wishes.

The Future of the Human World – Last Judgment Arrives

Some people choose Heaven, some choose Hell – according to Swedenborg

According to Swedenborg the Last Judgment already took place in 1757 in Heaven. On earth it would arrive a bit later and the true meaning of Last Judgment is to separate good people from evil people at the end of times when the essence of the church has collapsed and all moral standards are destroyed – this is the state of our world today.

Those people who can choose to do good things during these evil times will pass the test and save their lives. Those who choose to do evil will be sent down to hell – everyone makes their own choice. So this modern era is just a life and death test for every human being. Our current actions decide our future and if we have humility to the Lord, the Universe,  our fellow man and ourselves that is the best. A human being is blind and while in delusion many people become bad because they can´t resist all the temptations in the material world.

At the End of Times a new gospel will be preached to all the nations by the Son-of-Man. This man will be filled with God´s spirit and he will come from China. His followers will be persecuted by evil people, but many of his people will endure and succeed in the end according to Swedenborg.

Truly Great People can Predict the Future

Swedenborg had supernormal powers proven by many distinguished people of his era. One such example was when Swedenborg at a dinner gathering in Gothenburg, Sweden told his friends that a fire had broken out near his home in Stockholm about 300 miles away. A week later the news arrived to Gothenburg and confirmed his story.

Swedenborg also predicted the arrival of Falun Gong, the spiritual movement which originated from China in 1992 and now has spread across the whole world. He once said: ”Falun is to the east.” Nobody understood him at the time since Falun(city) in Sweden was at the center of Sweden. Two hundred years later Falun Gong appeared in the far east, in China, and it was a unique and formerly secret spiritual cultivation way to reach enlightenment whereby you focus on improving your heart by following ”Truth-Compassion-Tolerance” in your daily life. In a few years Falun Gong spread to 100 million Chinese and then the Chinese Communist Party started an illegal persecution of Falun Gong – exactly in line with Swedenborg´s prophesy about ”True Christianity” arriving and being persecuted by evil people just before the Last Judgment.

When Swedenborg passed away a Priest asked him if he had written all his scriptures only to make a name for himself. Swedenborg´s reply was this:

”As truly as you see me before your eyes, so true is everything that I have written; and I could have said more had it been permitted. When you enter eternity you will see everything, and then you and I shall have much to talk about.”

Will Swedenborg´s prophecies come true and did he tell us truth? At the very least his explanation of the spiritual world was extremely clear and rational with each action generating a consequence in your life after death. That is why we all need to cling to our faith in a Lord and then try our best to do good deeds every day and have compassion for our family, colleagues and friends as well as ourselves – this is the real secret of a good human life.
