Atlanta Targeted? Major Highway Being Closed (Video)

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Another major highway in metro Atlanta has been closed, this one because an underground gas leak caused the fast lane to buckle. DeKalb County officials say the pavement on Interstate 20 buckled in the HOV lane Monday morning.

Is it something sinister or just further crumbling infrastructure that we are waiting for the current adminstration to make great again. This is the not the first time a highway has been shut down in the recent months because of similar situations.

Another major highway through Atlanta was partially shut down on Monday, this one because the pavement rose up and broke apart in an area where underground utility work was being done.

A motorcyclist hit the rising pavement in the carpool lane of Interstate 20, went airborne and was critically injured. Pieces of pavement rose to nearly the height of a full-grown man as the road buckled.

Witnesses said other motorists rushed to the motorcyclist’s aid. DeKalb County spokesman Andrew Cauthen said he was hospitalized with multiple fractures.

The buckling was caused by a utility crew using machinery to bore a new natural gas pipeline under the highway, authorities said.

“Work was being performed in the area on behalf of Atlanta Gas Light,” company spokeswoman Melissa Clontz said. “This incident was not caused by and did not involve the release of natural gas.”

County spokeswoman Sarah Page said all westbound lanes were closed until further notice several miles southeast of downtown Atlanta. Westbound traffic is being diverted at Interstate 285, the city’s perimeter highway.

This latest infrastructure problem will only snarl more traffic in the congested city, adding east-west complications to commutes already complicated by the collapse of an overpass on Interstate 85, a key north-south artery, due to a fire that police say was intentionally set.

Also a prime example of under educated workers. Research who the boss was and you’ll probably find out they aren’t American born.

      • sarah

To further complicate the problem of not being American born there are those construction workers that are low info personalities who might have gotten an attendance diploma for attending 12 years of public school to include the 12th grade, but only have a 3rd grade education. Where many present Atlanta and Metro-Atlanta road catastrophes are presently occurring these low info under educated people cover the place like flies.

To further add to the problem some of these under educated people occupy U.S. Congress positions. Hank Thompson, U.S. Representative for the 4th Congressional District, a member of the Democrat Party, representing mostly DeKalb County, GA where I-20 at Flat Shoals Road is located in GA, is so stupid he said concerning the U.S. territory of Guam regarding a planned military buildup on the Pacific island to Admiral Robert Willard, then head of the U.S. Pacific fleet, the following several years ago in a House Armed Service Committee hearing:

“My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.”

        Willard paused and replied:

        “We don’t anticipate that.”

You can’t make this stuff up. Our country and states are falling apart because we keep electing Dummies to run them. And because of immorality and ethics degradation in same Dummies.

If we want to turn America around this might be a good place to start:

2 Chronicles 7:14 King James Version Bible

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Take a right off of I20 and follow flat shoals road down to Boring road and that is the street I grew up on. Before it got bad.

DeKalb County in the early 1970′s was the richest county in GA.

What a shame DeKalb County, GA, has become what it is today.

Flat Shoals at I-20 near Boring Road at one time was a really nice area.

Now, a person would be a fool to go anywhere near there without a gun.

If GA brought back the chain gang and put these thugs who break the law, murder, sell drugs, prostitute, and almost any other vile thing a person can image to think of doing and is going on in undesirable neighborhoods in Atlanta and Metro-Atlanta, GA, on the chain gangs when convicted of their crimes, maybe some sanity and safety could be restored to those Atlanta and Metro-Atlanta areas.

Crime runs rampant in Atlanta and Metro-Atlanta areas because the penalty for those crimes are not harsh enough so, when the criminal is sitting in jail for their crimes the criminal knows for sure they never want to be in a Georgia jail again.

Hazardous cargo should be prohibited on any stretch of road deemed unsafe for transporting toxic chemicals through cities and neighborhoods until roads have been repaired and in good condition……pass a law if that’s what it takes to get the streets repaired. they squander the money……..

Atlanta’s infrastructure is crumbling. I believe the 85 collapse was sketchy and was more than a crackhead, but this I am not so worried about. The only road improvements in Atlanta is “The Pothole Patrol”. They aren’t even cleaning out the storm drains on the highways which probably stresses the roads and causes sinkholes underneath them. The one in the picture is clean, probably after they got there. The Mayor is worried more about new stadiums so people will come here so they can build more stadiums. If there were to be a real problem with certain people, check out ‘spaghetti junction’. That would paralyze the city.

    • Mayhem

More like “Murphy’s Law” in action rather than targeted.

Some say it couldn’t have come at a worse possible time, what with the I-85 being down and all, but it turns out it’s the result of a scheduled gas-pipe test that successfully identified a weak point in the system. It happens. Deal with it.

This should only take a week or two to fix and i hear the I-85 will reopen well before the end of May so the Georgians will be able to resume their gluttony unencumbered.

“…so the Georgians will be able to resume their gluttony unencumbered.”

I had to stop on I-90 due to an accident today for 20 minutes. The guy behind me was losing his sh*t honking and whatnot. I guess some folks are just plain stupid. He thought his honking would start the progression of a line of 150 stopped cars.

Well they may as well quit the fear porn and fix the bridge. They have gotten all the mileage they will get from this one.
