(The Abomination of Desolation)

Most people that I talk with seem to be very confused about exactly what happens at the Midst of the Week which is the middle of the 7 year tribulation and is the beginning of the Great Tribulation referred to by Christ. I fear that what happens in the midst of the week will be a large part of what causes the Falling Away mentioned in 2Th 2:3. People are not prepared for what is going to happen. And they do not realize how important it is for them to know what is actually going to happen. It is in the Scriptures for a reason, so that we know what to anticipate and as a witness unto all the nations. This is why I felt it was so important to show people exactly what will happen according to prophecy during this time period. Please read this whole chapter and consider what it is saying.

The Abomination of Desolation

Let’s take a look at just exactly what the abomination of desolation would be and exactly what happens at the midst of the week. We will start with the Hebrew word for abomination:

From Strong’s Hebrew definitions H8262; disgusting, that is, filthy; especially idolatrous or (concretely) an idol: - abominable filth (idol, -ation), detestable (thing).

Dan 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Dan 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Mar 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

In Daniel 11:31 and 12:11 it is clear that the abomination is placed or setup and in Mathew 24:15 and Mark 13:14 it says it stands in the holy place or where it ought not. This indicates it is an inanimate object (idol, statue, image) not a person and it could possibly be the image to the beast mentioned in Revelation 13. Biblical reference indicates that any part of the Temple Mount including the Wailing Wall could be considered a Holy Place.

The following verses are a list of all the events that happen at the midst of the week. I think you the reader will be very surprised with what this list reveals because it is something that is not being taught in most end time doctrines. The list is laid out in outline form with the point of each item and then the confirming verses. To emphasize the content and relation between verses I have used color, bold, underline and highlight effects.

Midst of the Week Events:

The following list is a combination of all the scriptures that talk about the events that take place during the Midst of the Week

1. Causes the Sacrifice (zebach) and the Oblation (minchah) to cease and the Abomination makes it Desolate.

   Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall *cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
   (*this could be the daily prayer at the Temple Mount Western Wall taken away)

2. Places the Abomination of Desolation. Those with understanding Flee Judaea

   Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
   Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

   Mar 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

   Luk 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
   Luk 21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

   Dan 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

3. The Anti-Christ (Beast) is given power 42 months.

   Rev 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

   Rev 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

   Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

4. The outer court of the Temple and the Holy City (Jerusalem) is GIVEN to the Gentiles to tread under foot 42 months.

   Rev 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

   Luk 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

   Luk 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

5. The 2 Witnesses are given power and they prophesy 1260 days (42 months)

   Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
    

6. The 4^th Seal as laid out in the spreadsheet Seals, Trumps, and Vials
    

   Rev 6:7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.

   Rev 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

   Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

An interesting point is that the Hebrew word kanaph translated to the word overspreading in Daniel 9:27 KJV can also mean a quarter of the Earth that he shall make desolate which matches the events of the 4^thSeal where power is given to Death and Hell over the forth part of the Earth to kill. Rev. 6:7-8 This appears to happens shortly after the midst of the week.

All that I am saying is there could be a correlation here between the 4^thSeal and Daniel 9:27…

So far our outline gives us this list of items:

According to Mathew 24:21, once the Abomination of Desolation is placed in the midst of the week then the Great Tribulation starts, which is the 2^ndhalf of the 7 year tribulation. All of the time periods mention in the above list 42 months, 1260 days all equal this 3.5 years of indignation which is the Great Tribulation. The bad news which I intentionally placed last to stress the importance is item number 8 of this list.

7.  Israel looses the war that allows Jerusalem to be given to the Gentiles for 42 months

Most Christians do not realize this is what will happen and when they see Israel fall and there has been no Rapture it may very well shake their faith. This event could be part of what causes the great falling away because it will appear that the Muslims have defeated the Jews. This is confirmed in the book of Joel which is focused on the end time prophecy of this time period.

Joe 3:1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring AGAIN the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

Jesus calls this time period The Great Tribulation.

In the following list the scriptures will detail and prove item 7 to be correct.

A. Prevails Against Them - Time and Times and the Dividing of Time (3.5 years)

Dan 7:19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;

Dan 7:20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

Dan 7:21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

Dan 7:22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

Dan 7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

Dan 7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Dan 7:26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

B. He Shall Destroy the Mighty and the Holy People.

Dan 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

Dan 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

Dan 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

C. When They Place the Abomination of Desolation They Shall Fall by the Sword to the Time of the End, Till the Indignation be Accomplished

Dan 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Dan 11:32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

Dan 11:33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

Dan 11:34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.

Dan 11:35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

Dan 11:36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

D. For These be the Days of Vengeance - They Shall Fall by the Sword - Jerusalem is Trodden Down – Until The Times of the Gentiles be Fulfilled

Luk 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

Luk 21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

Luk 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

Luk 21:23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

Luk 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

E. The outer court and the Holy City (Jerusalem) is GIVEN to the Gentiles for 42 months

The point of the yellow highlight here is that in Luke 21:24 Jerusalem is trodden down by and Gentiles and in Revelation the outer court and the Holy City is tread under foot by the Gentiles which leads me to believe these are the same events. And that the time of the Gentiles is the final 3.5 years of the 7 year tribulation event known as the Great tribulation.
 

F. The Beast Makes War with the Saints, and Overcomes Them has Power for 42 months

Rev 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

Rev 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

All the Events that happen at the Midst of the Week

1. Causes the Sacrifice (zebach) and the Oblation (minchah) to cease

2. Places the Abomination of Desolation

Joe 3:1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring AGAIN the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

I think we can safely say there will be no mistake in recognizing the Midst of the Week and the Abomination of Desolation because at that time Israel will fall by the sword and Jerusalem will be lost to the Gentiles for 3.5 years (The Great Tribulation).

Of course this is not without Israel putting up a good fight (for 30 days) which will more than likely be the event that causes Tyre to become a wasteland and Damascus to become a ruinous heap. This would fulfill the prophecies of Isaiah chapters 17 and 23. This also appears to be the time when the 4^thSeal is opened Rev. 6:7-8 and the Pale Horse rides which conclude with a 4^thpart of the world being killed which also appears to be part of the Desolations after the midst of the week.

Once these events happen or begin there will be 3.5 years of the indignation of the Great Tribulation and the control of the Beast/Anti-Christ. For many he will appear to be a savior because he will be able to offer commerce, food and protection if you take the Mark of the Beast. This will be one of the methods the enemy will use to deceive the people.

Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

All of the information that we have been giving about the mid-point of the tribulation seems to make clear three very important things. And I believe all of this information is for us and is further proof that we Christians will be here to see these things…

1. When we see these things we will know exactly where we are in the tribulation timeline…
2. When we see these things we will know what to do if we have prepared…
3. We are given this much concise information about the mid-point event because there is not enough concise information about the beginning of the 7 years to be sure it has begun.

True, there is NOT enough information to know exactly when the abomination of desolation will take place… BUT… we will clearly know when it does take place.

All that I can say is prepare, prepare, prepare - mentally, spiritually and physically.

Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

Mar 13:19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

Mar 13:20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

Luk 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

Refuge:

Isa 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

This verse is clearly speaking of the Resurrection/Rapture in the future that take place during the time spoken of in Rev. 20:4-6, Mat 24:31, Mark 13:27, 1Thes 4:16-17 and 1Cor 15:51-52.

Isa 26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

This scripture is telling us in typical Hebrew fashion that before the Resurrection/Rapture takes place that we should hide ourselves till the indignation is completed.

Isa 26:21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

Again in typical Hebrew fashion this verse is telling us that the day of the Lord and the Resurrection/Rapture are the same day which is just one day of the Lords wrath that happens at the end of the indignation. This is the wrath spoken of in 1Thes 5:9 that we are not appointed to be part of because we are Resurrected/Raptured out as that day begins.

Then Dan 11:31-36 indicates that the indignation will be from the time the Abomination of Desolation is placed till the time of the end. This time period is the Great Tribulation that last 3.5 years, 42 months, 1260 days.

Dan 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Dan 11:35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

If the scriptures are clearly telling us that the Great Tribulation (3.5 years of indignation) are coming, that we will not be able to buy or sell without the mark of the beast, and that it is our responsibility to enter our chambers, shut our doors and hide ourselves, then we must recognize that to be obedient to God’s word during this time period we have to make all effort to prepare a safe place, food storage and necessities for that time period. Once we have been obedient to do all that we can physically do then I believe that God will do the rest because we took the steps of faith to be obedient to his word, much like Noah’s obedience to build the ark.

Obedience is the Key

Rev 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Rev 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
 

Zep 2:3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.

Maybe all of these preppers you hear about have got it right and they are on to something!!
