Christ will gather together his elect only once, and to suggest two gatherings is contrary to scripture.
Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many, and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
1 Thess 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which are dead in Jesus will God bring with him.
The dead in Christ, are the first to put on incorruption and immortality. Contrary to the Pre tribulation Rapture fairy tale, Christ descends from heaven with the elect, He does not take anyone up to Heaven (1 Cor 15:42-53, 1 Thes 4:13-17).
Eph 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him.
If we truly were taken to heaven as taught by the Pre tribulation crowd, Christ would not need to bring anyone to earth.
1 Thess 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the cloud, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
This verse above is the primary one used by those who teach this Rapture deception. After the tribulation, the Lord returns in a cloud, and all eyes shall see Him (Rev 1:7). There is no secret gathering, and Christ only returns once in a very visible manner. It also should be noted that Christ will return to this earth a second time, and nowhere in scripture is it ever implied that He ever returns to Heaven.
In 1 Thes 4:17, the Lord in the air is an incorrect translation. The word of, (G 1519) should be used as it indicates the point reached or entered of place, time, or (figurative) purpose.
The word in, (G 1722) denotes a fixed position in place or time. And we were in the ship…Acts 27:37. Another example is, Jesus was born in Bethlehem…Mat 2:1.
Mark 13:24-27 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and Christ will gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
To attempt to justify a Pre tribulation Rapture deception requires the destruction of a lot of Scripture
- We are not taken up to the kingdom of heaven, but rather Christ brings the kingdom to us.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven (Matt 6:10).
- Wherever Christ is there the Elect will be also, the Elect are the ones left behind. Those taken are ushered into hell, to await the second death (Rev 19:20, 20:6, 20:10-15).
- The elect will reign with Christ for a thousand years. There is only one resurrection for those who are accounted worthy to reign with Christ. The Rapture deception requires two resurrections. (Rev 20:5-6. Luke 20:35-36).
- The Pre tribulation Rapture requires a third advent of Christ, which is not taught anywhere in the scriptures (Heb 9:28).
The Words of Truth that Jesus taught are completely contrary to the heretical teachings known as the Pre tribulation Rapture escape clause. This fairy tale is not a part of the Gospel message.
We need to receive His Word in our hearts as well as our minds. As well, it is essential to allow Christ’s Holy Spirit to dwell within us, so as to understand his Word. This indwelling does not automatically happen just because we know of Him. Also, it is impossible to be received by those who distort the gospel and thus create a religion that they can be comfortable with.
Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

People fail to realize Satan is the god of this world, and that he has used deception and infiltration of the truth to blind many. This includes those that claim to believe but do not have the spirit of truth, and cannot truly follow Jesus.
Once the Pre tribulation Rapture deception is revealed to be another false gospel, there will be a great falling away. This lift raft that the multitudes find safety in, will suddenly and without warning literally disappear, and so too will their false pastors.
The beast, or son of perdition, will rule with a reign of terror unlike any other during the final fourth World Kingdom. The word perdition means waste or destroy, and refers to spiritual destruction (2 Pet 2:1-3, 3:7). Those who have not put on the whole armor of God will not be able to stand against the evils of the Devil (Eph 6:11-13).
Matt 25:31-34 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Upon his return, Jesus Christ rewards the true believer and follower with Salvation. Those who believe in the Pre tribulation Rapture and other deceptive doctrines do not have the Holy Spirit of truth residing in them.
Romans 8:8-9 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

So to answer your question as to what will happen after the Lord returns, here is a brief summary, some notes I copied, and a nice commentary of the parable of the wheat & tares by baxter.
Short answer & summary. King Jesus will establish his capital in Jerusalem. Eventually he will conquer the whole world. He will establish the rule of God’s Word and Law over the whole earth. This will be wonderful for those who love him and serve him, and a complete disaster for the servants of the devil, workers of iniquity, and other god-haters. There will be no atheists in that day. The Lord will make a plain difference between those who serve him and those who do not. There will be a severe tare harvest according to Matt. 13:30. He will rule for 1000 years. Eventually the devil will get out of jail in hell and start the second gog and magog war. This will usher in the white throne judgement. Eternity opens up after that.
* The Bible is very plain. There will be a millennial kingdom on the earth. It will not be in heaven. Look at the following verses: Zechariah 14; Isaiah 24:6; Acts 1:11; Revelation 5:10, 2:26-27, 20:6, etc. Isaiah 2:2-4, 11:1-9. God has created the earth to be the home of mankind, not to be destroyed: Isaiah 45:18. For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Isaiah 65:17
Now we will see the reward of the righteous!
Also Isaiah 24:6 cannot be used to “prove” that all the wicked will be destroyed on the earth, at Christ’s coming, leaving the earth desolate during the millennium.
* The King will rule from Jerusalem:
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. Isaiah 2:2-4.

* The saints will participate in the government of the Kingdom. The Saints will rule the earth under Christ and it will be restored to its Edenic glory:

The winepress is the second harvest. The rapture occurs, and the vine is cast into the winepress. These are two simultaneous harvests. Jesus Christ taught the same thing in Matthew 13 when He told the parable of the wheat and the tares. Matthew 13:24-26 says,
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
A parable is a story that reveals truth to some while veiling truth from others. It was the method by which Jesus always taught. Matthew 13:27-30 continues,
So the servants of the householder came and said unto him Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
In their earliest stages of growth, you cannot distinguish a tare from wheat. Jesus was saying not to root them up, because when you pull up a tare, you are going to pull up the wheat as well. However, during the harvest when you are gathering, you will cut wheat and tares. It is then that the wheat will go one way and the tares will go the other. Jesus took time to explain the parable in Matthew 13:36-39. He says,
He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

your confusion is too deep, too wide — you must wait until the 2nd resurrection when the Law i.e. the Torah goes forth from Jerusalem — then you will be taught the truth. Until then — confusion will reign over you completely.
