Well, the “rapture” as some people foolishly believe in, is not even a literal part of the bible…there is only an extremely vague reference to an “event”.
The term “rapture” was first spoken by Margaret MacDonald of Scotland who claimed to have had a vision of Christ’s second AND THIRD coming. This belief was then popularized by a Presbyterian by the name of Edward Irving, who was eventually kicked out of his own church when they discovered that, contrary to his story of having the ability from God to speak in tongues, turned out to be nothing more than gibberish.
The Catholic Aposolic Church continued to preach about this “rapture”. The belief was then further popularized and most notably known because of John Darby, who invented Dispensationalism…which basically states that obedience to God’s Ten Commandments is completely optional.
There are a few verses in the bible that speak in contrary to such an event as what Christians today call the Rapture: one of my favorites is “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:17). Which….basically says, that God’s followers will still be here AFTER the tribulation period, and then in Zecharia which says; “His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east…” (Zechariah 14:4).

So, that must mean that whoever is “raptured” if there is such a thing…will not go directly to heaven because…correct me if I’m wrong…Christ is supposed to reign ON EARTH for 1000 years, followed by God living amongst men for all eternity on THE NEW EARTH.

I am in fact a christian, but not in the conventional sense. I think it’s ridiculous when people claim to be enlightened to what the bible SAYS. Let’s be realistic…the bible is an inanimate object that is incapable of speaking….what the bible READS is wholly different to what the “Literalists” out there would have you believe. How many times has the bible been used as a weapon against blacks during the civil rights movement? Or against women, jews, homosexuals and pretty much anyone that isn’t “Christian”. Honestly, you people have it completely wrong. It’s perfectly acceptable to read the bible with a 5th grade understanding when you’re actually in 5th grade.

That is a very simplistic view of the bible.

It is in fact a historical account of A PEOPLE who would be at enmity for the entire age. This enmity still exists today and it will not end until a final battle to declare the victor (which scripture already reveals).

Yahshua Christ called the Edomite woman a dog and told the Pharisees (who were also Edomites) that they were vipers and children of the devil. They had murdered every righteous prophet since ABEL. So who murdered Abel?

There is no rapture as you said. This is also evident in Yahshua’s telling of The Wheat and the Tares.
