Robber Scared Off by Name of Jesus

Most of us have probaby read Luke 10:17 sometime in our lives.   Remember when Jesus sent the 70 out to preach the Kingdom of God?  Well, when they came back they told him, “Lord even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” (NKJV)  Do you suppose that if demons are subject to the name of Jesus, robbers might be also?   A 62 year-old Florida woman claims it worked for her when a gunman showed up at her jewelry party Friday night.

Police say 24 year-old Derek Lee was wearing a ski cap with a bandana across his face when he entered the Lake City home carrying a gun.  One of the ladies thought it was a party gag when he allegedly held the weapon against her head.  The truth sunk in when he reportdly said, “I’m not joking. I’m going to shoot someone.  Give me your money.”

Jacquie Hagler rose to action and said, “In the name of Jesus, get out of my house now.”  Seeing no progress, she said it again even more boldy and her friends joined in chanting, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.”

Police say Lee stood paralyzed.  According to Ms. Hagler, “He did a quick scan of the room.  She continues, “This look of terror came on his face and he just turned around and ran out the door.”

Lee was arrested two blocks away at his father’s home.  Bond is set at 200 thousand dollars.

And let’s not overlook this.  Calling on the name of Jesus was not Jacquie Hagler’s only Biblical action regarding the robbery.  She says she’s forgiven Derek Lee and is praying for his salvation.
