Was considering everything this morning, and it dawned on me that, if potatoes didn’t grow underground, some of them wouldn’t get what look like shovel marks on them. That’s not even a joke. They’re all over the place in Detroit. I was there one occasion, though quite some years ago now, but stopped in this liquor store to get change. It was like an armed camp, steel bars, bullet proof glass, and there was this small group of Palestinian proprietors of the store behind the fortress counter, just babbling away in Arabic. I felt naked, out of place, though I don’t even own a bomb vest. Somebody subsequently told me Michigan is little Arabia, a number of places. I’ve since always wondered if they were Muslims, selling liquor. You know, those 9/11 guys were doing alcohol and titty bars.
