Here’s how this works, Arthur: I make a claim that, for example, Matthew 28:19 and 1 John 7:7-8 have been altered to reflect support for the doctrine of the Trinity. I then produce some or all of the twenty eight instances in which Eusebius of Pamphilus recorded copies of that verse as it originally existed, as Eusebius was a man with access to many FIRST century New Testament documents. Eusebius, in his fourth century written correspondence and other documentation, left a record of Matthew 28:19 as it originally existed. The work of Eusebius is then cross-compared with other writings of the early patriarchs and confirming witness is thereby uncovered. Again, I provide the words of Desiderius Erasmus wherein he frankly admitted to inserting a marginal notation into the text of his finished version of the New Testament (which later became known as the Textus Receptus and the late insertion the Comma Johanneum). In this way, evidence is provided for the claim that Scripture has been changed and the claim is thereby supported with facts. We, likewise, can find evidence that other verses have NOT been changed – seeking recourse to late first and early second century papyri documentation, for example.

But you, sir, have come preaching another doctrine. You merely ASSERT that your doctrine MUST HAVE been the original message of the Scriptures, because you (for some reason) find the Gospel message (as it exists) to be distasteful. You have offered nothing but your own conjecture and speculation in support of your claims and therefore your claims are invalid. You also have demonstrated that the reason you make the claims you do, is because you do not understand the Scriptures and the message they have to teach.

Manuscripts are not given dates. They are studied by forensic linguists, paleologists and textual critics. These scientists then arrive at a consensus and they are very public about their findings. If their work is suspect for any reason, their conclusions will be overruled by the examinations of other, more qualified examiners. Dating Papyri and Manuscript evidence IS an exact science. Only the enemies of Scripture have a vested interest in falsifying their findings, but today, there are far too many believing examiners making sure the work of liars is dragged out into the light.

“And most Christians do not seek to understand why something is in the Bible…”

This is yet another example of unmitigated hypocrisy coming from you, Arthur. Will you delete this comment section now as well as the other? You are a man who fails to understand why the things you find in Scripture are there (because you have not first tested Scripture), and instead you wander off into the wilderness in search of answers which are more conducive to your personal beliefs and preconceptions. But where were you going without ever knowing The Way?

That is exactly so. But the salient point which you refuse to consider, is that we have each first TESTED The Word of God and found it to be worthy (because we tested intensively, accordingly and properly) before we proceeded to lean upon The Word for our doctrine and beliefs.

So? Make your case. First demonstrate with evidence that your ideas have merit of any kind, and then show who benefits from the corruption of The Message as it originally existed. You have done none of that. You merely skip to your conclusions without doing ANY of the footwork and then you proclaim that people who don’t believe as you do are deluded fools. Would you listen to yourself, man?

You have yet to take even your very first step toward actually arguing that assertion. You have made the assertion. The assertion has been recognized and it has been challenged by others. You then REPEAT the assertion (repeatedly) and in so doing you imagine you are arguing in support of your assertion, when you are doing nothing of the kind. If your assertion cannot be defended in dialogue or argument, then you should REJECT that assertion as being vain and nothing worth.

Disregard of biblical context is dangerous in all instances. That’s why you are here being cautioned so strongly against it.

If you are unwilling or unable to defend your claims and assertions, then you have NO BUSINESS sharing those claims and assertions with anyone. This isn’t a question of bullying, Arthur – it is a question of vanity.
