Why Noah Was Chosen to Be Spared From the Flood

Though it may be debatable among scholars and theologians whether or not Noah had a gender pair of each of  the living animals in the ark or simply had their DNA, it is no longer a mystery why he was preserved.

King James Bible
Genesis 6:9 – These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

So there is no confusion, what does it actually mean when it says perfect? To us who know better, there was only ONE being who lived a life without sin, which is Christ our Lord and to me that is perfect. Glory to God! Not to downplay Noah but what was this verse actually referring to?
