Chevron About Fracking Death To Pa.: Sorry. Here's Free Pizza To Make Up For It

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

National outrage at Chevron is mounting since Pennsylvania State Troopers’ criminal investigators pronounced late Wednesday the horrific death of a fracking worker, missing since last Tuesday’s explosion, and the company offering pizza coupons to 100 families at risk near the company’s out-of-control wells where the disaster remains “serious.”

Cameron International‘s missing employee working on Chevron’s fracking well pad when it exploded last Tuesday, Mr. Ian McFee, 27 was pronounced dead late Wednesday, as news hit the nation about Chevron offering a pizza voucher (“Special Combo Only”) to 100 families impacted by its out-of-control wells threatening to blow up again in their neighborhhood.

Over a week after Chevron’s LANCO #7 wellpad explosion in Bobtown, Dunkard Township, Pennsylvania State Police investigators were able to gain access to the formerly massive blazing site and found what they believe to be remains of Mr. Ian McFee, native of Warren, Pa. and resident of Morgantown, West Virginia.

Morgantown, 14 miles from the tragic site under criminal investigation, has also been under extra chemical attack by Chevron’s fracking chemicals spewing through the region.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that we learned today from the Pennsylvania State Police that investigators from their forensic services unit located remains at the Lanco well pad site,” Chevron said in a Feb. 19, 2014, 8:55 P.M. EST update. “Our thoughts go out to the family, friends and co-workers of our missing colleague, Ian McKee.”

The missing worker, Ian McKee, had been identified as a contractor for Cameron International, one of several companies with workers on Chevron’s well pad when the explosions and massive fire from a huge crater that formed there began early last Tuesday

During a somber press conference at Bobtown Fire Department, a Cameron International spokesperson said Mr. McKee, originally from Warren, Pa., but resided in Morgantown, West Virginia left behind a fiance pregnant with his child.

Stefan Radwanski, vice president and general manager of Cameron’s Surface Systems division, said the company’s been in regular contact with the McKee family and will continue providing for their needs.

Investigators said the remains were taken to Greene County coroner’s office, where they hope to positively identify them as Mr. McKee.

“We are focused on ensuring the safety of all workers on site as they continue to respond to this incident,” Chevron said in its statement Wednesday night.

After death and destruction, Chevron says, ’Let them eat pizza’

“We value our employees and contractors as our greatest asset and work extremely hard every day to prevent incidents like this,” Chevron said in a written statement last night. “We are committed to fully understanding what happened and are determined to prevent this from happening again.

“All of us at Cameron are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the McKee family,” Chevron’s spokesperson said.

Chevron is so saddened and prayerful, it offered a special combo (“only”) pizza to the 100 homes it’s threatened with its out-of-control well, flames shooting over nearby houses, and toxic fumes.

Chevron’s giving a free pizza {“Special Combo Only”) to Dunkard Township famiies in the area impacted by the deadly out-of-control wells, spewing methane and other toxins on residents.

“It’s ok though!! Chevron was so thoughtful, they bought all the surrounding, effected homes gift certificates for pizza and pop,” Trinja commented on Before It’s News. “Now wasn’t that generous of them? More like a slap in the face.”

writer for Wonkette titled his article Chevron To Pennsylvania Town: Sorry We Murdered You With Fracking, Here’s A Coupon For Pizza. That article included:

the good folks at Chevron were quick to offer the people of the town — whichever town it is — a little something to say “We’re sorry for the explosion and fire in whichever town you live in”: They’re distributing letters of apology and a nice coupon for a free large pizza (and 2-liter bottle of soda) to about 100 households in the town of Bobtown, or maybe Dunkard Township.

“In addition to the free pizzas, the residents of Bobtown or Dunkard Township also get to worry about strange odors and maybe their drinking water catching on fire, so it’s kind of a gift that keeps on giving,” Wonkette writes.

Out-of-control unwell fracked nation

The tragic and hazardous event unfolding in Dunkard, Pennsylvania represents the new normal in the United States, an out-of-control fracked nation.

Fracking has destroyed entire American communities and regions, such as in Arkansas, highlighted in the video below, Fracking house explosions, suicides, miscarriages cover up, by Deborah Dupré.

Not good enough, America

“[H]orrible and sad and tragic,” Vera Scroggins commented on Chevron’s latest tragedy last night. “[H]ow many more will have to die before we abandon this dangerous energy form….!”

“A Babe, yet awaiting a babe,” TinaMc, another commenter, wrote. “No words can console, no actions can make it alright.”

“This extreme form of energy extraction is volatile, dangerous, and not an operation that should be done around people,” asserts CitizenSane1 Thursday morning on the StateImpact Pa. page report about Mr. McKee. “The only reason we’re engaging in this at all is because in the last 100 years we’ve managed to deplete conventional oil and gas deposits.”

Expressing outrage of many other Americans during the past week regarding Chevron’s out-of-control wells in southern Pennsylvania, CitizenSane1 elaborated on what is happening in the United States to feed the nation’s addiction to fossil fuels, saying it is “absolutely insane.”

On order for this unconventional form of oil and gas drilling to replace what we once had, we will have to drill North America into a third world extraction colony to keep up with domestic and overseas demands (61% of US natural gas is earmarked for export), and then when it’s depleted and we finally decide to invest and encourage the use of renewables, we will have depleted, or contaminated our other natural resources like: clean safe drinking water, air quality, our forests and wetlands, and viable land mass for food production.

If we had a true energy policy, we would first stop the $4B in subsidies to the fossil fuel industry, develop a limited centralized delivery system for a combination of renewables (solar, wind, tidal, and hydrogen) and encourage the installation of individual systems that would be a combination of passive solar and solar voltaic, wind, geothermal, and hydrogen. We should also learn and teach our children how to conserve energy. This would make us all truly “energy independent”, preserve our other life-sustaining resources, and create family friendly, good paying, sustainable jobs.”

Stiffer, more effective and better enforced fossil fuel regulations would take one inspector at every fracking site at expense of industry, as former West Virginia House of Delegates candidate Dr. Paul Brown had advocated during his unsuccessful campaign in 2010.

“[U]nless the people rise up en mass and take to the streets in non-violent protest and exercise our constitutional right to engage in non-violent civil disobedience and force our elected representatives to climb out of the deep dirty pockets of the oil and gas industry, or get fired, nothing is going to change,” CitizenSane1 says. “Forget the industry, the legislature, the regulatory agencies.”

Sunday, when this reporter went to Bobtown, Dunkard Township, she found roadblocks preventing media access to the crime scene and an eerie silence among dozens of workers, some even denying comment on what company employed them.

“They’re not going to protect you,” says CitizenSane1. “It’s going to be up to the people, and when the people have had enough, this irresponsible insanity will end.”

Grief and outrage are warranted. Hopefully this sad and outrageous news travels far and widely enough to cause another ripple of hope for a future where renewable energy prevents this barbaric practice.

    • Paul Brown

One advantage of renewables is that people can generate their own electricity, helping prevent big corporations from running the world. Buying from small, local companies also helps.

Seems even death doesn’t get your message across to the fossil fuel addicts, Mr. Brown. Thank you, though.
