A five-month-old boy who has not yet been given a first name by his parents will be placed up for adoption, the Court of Protection has ruled.
The court heard that the child’s father also assaulted one social worker and threatened to kill a second.
Mrs Justice Parker, sitting in Watford described the case as ‘terribly sad’ but decided there was a high risk of the child suffering significant emotional harm.

The judge made the reasons for her ruling public following a private hearing at family court in Watford.
The court heard that the child’s father was hostile to social workers and accused them of being ‘invasive’.
However, Mrs Justice Parker decided that the father could be ‘dangerous’ and accepted that the child’s mother was in a vulnerable position as she had been diagnosed with a learning difficulty.
Mrs Justice Parker ruled that the family could not be identified but Hertfordshire County Council who took the case could be.
The child’s father and his partner have indicated that they will appeal the adoption ruling.
However, the court heard that the couple have a two-year-old son who has been taken into foster care while the mother has a third child who is currently being looked after by a relative.
Mrs Justice Parker said the man and his partner believed that they did not need any help from the local authority and had become ‘increasingly frustrated and intolerant’ towards social workers.

The man punched one male social worker in the face several times and threatened to kill his female colleague.
Commenting on the case, Mrs Justice Parker said: ‘I think I’m a fairly hardy plant. But I have to say I found his simmering anger quite difficult to cope with.
‘I think he can be dangerous.’
She continued: ‘I am in no doubt there is a high risk of significant harm to baby. Due to a combination of the vulnerability of the mother and the father’s attitudes and behaviour.‘

Mrs Justice Parker ruled that while the family at the centre of the case should remain anonymous, she said Hertfordshire County Council, who took the action, could be named (pictured Hertfordshire County Hall)
Mrs Justice Parker accepted that neither parent had set out to deliberately physically harm their sons.
‘This is a terribly sad case because father and mother, each of them, have many excellent qualities. It is absolutely plain to me that both of them love each of their sons, their boys, from the bottom of their hearts.’
She said as there was no family member available to care for the child, then it was ‘quite clear’ that adoption was the only answer.
Mrs Justice Parker said the failure of the family to name the baby was ‘emotionally harmful’ to the child.
She said: ‘His father has refused to give him a name. I think ideally the mother independently would not have taken that view. Every child needs a name.’
Mrs Justice Parker did not address the reason why the family refused to name the child.
