A teenage cat killer has been jailed after attacking a string of beloved pets in a 12-day shooting spree.
Franky Mills, 19, caused havoc in Surrey last March by targeting seven cats with an airgun.
One of the animals, named Ruby, was shot in the neck in Cranleigh on March 21 and had to put down.
Once buried, the animal had to be excavated for forensic examination as police hunted the killer, causing further distress to her former owner.
Twisted Mills had shot a further three pets in the area that day, blasting a pair of cats called Coco and Pebbles in their eyes and hitting another through a window.
The day before he shot a family cat called Bomber in the neck.
Just over one week later, he struck again, this time shooting a cat called Dexter twice in the leg in Guildford.
He attacked another pet the following day on its owner’s front door. Its injured leg later had to be amputated.
Mills, of Long Gore, was handed a two-year sentence at Guildford Crown Court on Friday after admitting seven counts of criminal damage and possession of a firearm.

In a statement read out in court, Ruby’s owner said: “My son took the news really badly and started struggling at school and would become very tearful and quiet.
“The person who shot our cat has changed our family forever and this is something I will never forgive or forget.”
Sergeant Paul Eden, from Waverley Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Mills’ behaviour is deeply concerning and completely unacceptable and his actions have caused a great deal of distress to a number of families.
“I hope that this outcome reassures the public that we take reports of this kind extremely seriously and will take action against those who behave in such a cruel and vile manner in our communities.”
A witness who came forward to help trace Mills has been given a £2,000 reward by animal rights campaign group PETA.
