Professor Mallet has a dream…a dream that almost borders on an obsession: build the world’s first real time machine that can transport humans through time. If he achieves that dream he intends to travel to the past on a personal mission to save his father’s life.
Mallet has been intrigued with time and time travel since childhood. A professor of physics for three decades, Mallet published his first formal paper outlining his time travel research in Physics Letters more than a decade ago.
The brilliant scientist, who’s appeared as a guest on the popular late night radio show Coast to Coast AM with George Noory, claims that the concept for his time machine uses light to form a circulating laser creating a warp or time loop instead of relying on a gravitic warp. In theory it should work, he argues, as Einstein proved mass and energy are the same.

Time travel is coming, and according to a Russian engineer it’s already arrived. Vadim Alexandrovich Chernobrov claims to have built a working time machine at the Moscow Aviation University. Both scientists’ novel approach sidesteps one of time travels thorny issues, the problem of mass. Mainstream scientists have proposed all manner of exotic means for achieving time travel. Using artificial or natural worm holes (or black holes) are two of the most popular time travel concepts. Both of those methods are not only impractical, but require space travel—probably faster-than-light travel—and energy that may exceed the initial burst put out by an exploding supernova.
Where does time start and where does it end?
But other than those few hurdles it might work…or at least the math works on paper. Chernobrov claims his time experiments prove that his model works. But unlike the Russian engineer, the approach to time travel that Mallett advocates envisions creating an intricate time loop.
Theoretically, time travel is possible if space can be warped. Experiments testing relativity and the effect on time within regions warped by gravity prove that warps facilitate time travel. The leap forward that Mallett makes is warping space not with mass, but with light.
His hypothesis depends on the creation of time loops. If they exist, time travel becomes possible. Mallett believes they exist. If time loops are proven, he predicts real time travel can be achieved within a decade and regular time voyages before the end of the century.

Building a time machine
To test his time loop theory, Mallet is constructing a time machine that can sit on a tabletop.
Using the coherent light of lasers, he intends to bend the light with a series of specially designed, strategically placed mirrors. Successfully causing light to bend back on itself—creating a streaming circle of light—should warp the surrounding space, or so he hopes.

To measure the existence of any warp created by the machine, subatomic particles will be shot through the adjacent space. Those particles’ duration—or “lifetime”—can determine if a warp exists and, if so, how strong the warp is that the machine’s created. The longer the particle life, the stronger the warp and the bigger the potential doorway into time.
Will time even exist when traveling ‘through’ it?
More importantly, a longer particle life also means the particles have transversed time and traveled into the future.

A famous time traveler paradox: a man travels to the past, and then finds and kills his teenage grandfather. How could the traveler exist in the first place if he broke the lineage that eventually produced him by killing his grandfather, thus preventing the birth of his father or mother. The time traveler shouldn’t exist. It’s a paradox…or is it?
Changing the past resets the time line and creates a new universe
Not an issue, declares Mallett. Traveling to the past creates another timeline and the future is not the present you started your journey from. Everything is changed. Time is reset. The reality here today remains the same and is unaffected by what changes in the past.
So the paradox is resolved by the multiverse. Killing a grandfather creates a new universe, a branch that has a different future. But it also means that in the infinite, ever expanding multiverse, a time traveler to the past can never return to the world—and time—originally departed.
A timely mission to save a father’s life
Mallett began his quest to solve the enigmas of time travel while still a boy. His father died of a heart attack when the future physicist was only 10 years old. His father’s death at 33 was a catharctic event that galvanized Mallett towards a lifelong quest to change what was and reset the past into one of his own choosing.
H.G. Wells’ science fiction classic, The Time Machine, opened his eyes to the possibility that time might be conquered and in a sense provide him with the ability to master life and death by manipulating the time stream.
The universe began with light, time travel may be possible with it
The untimely death of a man that the young Mallett adored drove the boy on towards seeking a career as a scientist delving into the mysteries of relativity, the quanta, warps and black holes, string theory—all the open questions and emerging knowledge that may lead towards creating a portal through time allowing him to save his father’s life.
Although it reads like a novel, the story is true and it’s what fuels the foundation of Mallett’s amazing—and perhaps attainable—dream.

As many have pointed out, one of the paradoxes of time travel is that if it ever becomes possible in the future, then it is possible now and has always been possible for all of history. So, where are all the time-tourists from our future and our past?

Well, Anonymous is somewhat correct…Time TRAVEL doesn’t exist for us, but Time VIEWING does (at least, viewing the past). Astrophysicists look into the past every time they peek through any telescope. What light we see from our sun RIGHT NOW was actually produced & sent our way about 8 minutes ago; no one can view any star without seeing how it actually WAS in the past, all due to the limit on the speed of light (& any other type of “waveform energy,” as with Radio Telescopes).
If you get right down to brass tacks, all of our “sensor” & “detection” technologies are really engineered around the concept of expanding our own natural senses; the visually-based tech we use can only detect different spectrums & wavelengths that are beyond the natural “visible spectrum” that our eyes detect (which is only a small range within the entire electromagnetic spectrum), then translates its own images into the spectrum that we CAN see.
Of all the spectrums & wavelengths that our equipment can detect, it’s all limited to detecting ONLY that which is equal to or slower than the speed of light. By logical extension, this means that it’s impossible for us to detect anything that might be moving faster than light, even if it exists.
Astrophysicists view out into the history of the universe everyday…But to view LOCAL history (any particular time & place on Earth, for example), we’d have to be able to make use of computer modeling of our universe in order to calculate a particular position of our sun & Earth in relationship to our galaxy and also the position & movement of our galaxy within the wider universe; this is something we CAN do already. But then to view any particular point in Earth history, we’d have to play the computer model in “reverse” to the point in time we’d like to view, calculate how light reflected off of the “scene” we want to see & then calculate the new position of where that light traveled & dispersed between that time & the present…I know of no computer that could calculate all of this precisely enough (or even quckly enough) to make this data useable.
Even after that, we’d have to travel out to where that “light reflected from history” is (or WILL BE, by the time we get there) & then record it onto some form of usable media…Take note that the further back in time you wish to view, the more widely dispersed that reflected light will be, so collecting all of the light in any kind of usable & recordable form would be a formidible task in its own right. Even then, you couldn’t get anything more than a VISUAL recording, because sound doesn’t travel in space & there wouldn’t be any sound on your recording…Better learn how to lip-read!
This may all read like scientific gobbldeygook phrased in layman’s terms, but it IS based from REAL science…Physical Laws starting with Einstein, Planck’s Length, string theories & higher levels of math than most people can grasp unless they spend years in education.
One point that I think should be brought to attention when considering actual Time TRAVEL…If you intend to travel in time, you must also be capable of traveling in space as well. Should you open a time portal that projects further than merely a few seconds, you’ll be opening a portal directly into the vacumn of space.
The earth moves in its orbit around the sun; the sun also orbits around the center of our galaxy; even the galaxy itself moves in relationship to space & other galaxies within our galactic cluster (from what I’ve heard, the Milky Way is moving about 12 miles per second). The “time portal” must also traverse space as well, simply because the universe itself is in constant motion…If your time portal only operates at a fixed point in space in relationship to the rest of the universe, it would only take a few seconds for the Earth to (literally) move right out from under your portal through the time being spanned.
“time travel” as its being discussed and the human condition aren’t compatible. time travel is achieved through the astral projection of the soul, not through the physical manipulation of earthly bodies. what you are searching for is your stumbling block, its the way you wish to carry the “self”, the carrying of “ego” and “super ego” on your travels. ego and super ego are the anchors that hold your soul and id hostage but give needed foundation to the life you’re living now. the truth is you cannot journey into the next realm by dragging your “known physical world” behind you. time/space travel isn’t linear, its very fluid, its beyond disorienting, its wispy and hollow. the travelers live and exist in a place of great spiritual turmoil and chaos. they no longer seek earthly answers to universal questions. thats the irony of it all. what you start searching for in the beginning is never what you find valuable in the end. peace & good health in 2012..

why tell you what you already know?
i have travelled in time astrally and also in dreams so I knew this was possible for quite a long time. Also, in a spiritual sense time/space has no meaning so there’s no intellectual problem with the concept of time travel once you’ve seen. I have also been visited by at least one time traveller. There were actually two of them -a man and a woman – but he made a greater impression. They arrived late at night when I was in bed but not asleep. I used to meditate a lot then (about 2 years ago) so was accustomed to all kinds of supernatural and spiritual experiences. I was also doing a lot of researh into the roots of conspiracy theories, the alternative news, and had come across some information about Pearl Harbour I’d never read of before, about a Japanese woman who was murdered at the same time, a girl who worked in a bar. It struck me as very interesting at the time but I’ve never been able to find this article again. Anyhow that had been on my mind and shortly after laying down in bed I experienced what I call a ‘silent sonic boom’, and a ‘flash’ of ‘dark light’ (no other way to describe it) that went across the room kind from top corner to bottom in front of the bed. The silent noise was so powerful it shook my entire body and while lying down I physically jolted like I’d been shocked. An instant later I saw the very clear image of a man appear in front of me, within second sight. I could only see his head and one arm, which he was flexing almost comically but the message was that he was strong. he had reddish wavy hair. behind him was a Japanese looking woman but she seemed kind of annoyed, not happy. I intuited them telling me not be scared but then they disappeared from view but I felt them sitting on my chest and began to do something to my heart. I was concerned but felt too relaxed to move. I saw him once more since then, in a very lucid dream where he gave me something highly symbolic but not relevant to this topic.

how about one that doesn’t require a lower animal (albeit; one with a higher intelligence)from another dimension that is in obi-science to another lower animal that’s in nominal ‘charge’ of this sphere to access a parasitic doorway that is merely a poor substitute for knowledge?

If a person travels back to the past,the moment that he or she leaves, the present time changes.The same with the future,if a person travels to the future there will be things,that person would not do in the normal cause of his or her life. So the moment that he or she leaves the future will be different.I can not see time travel ever happening.

the difficulty in understanding this comes from not understanding the difference betweeen the gross (physical) and subtle (etheric / astral) bodies. Physically (with me anyway) my body remained here, but astrally – and at other times etherically – I was elsewhere, beyond the dimension where time/space have meaning. But I can’t bilocate in the way that some people do – ie, astrally projecting any which way in the lower dimensions – and nor would I want to as I think that is where the spiritual conflicts come in.

at all) internal time.
So, you simply cannot affect the external macro-time.

Two more thoughts on this matter have come to me since my first posts on this thread two days ago:
1) The original paradox would accommodate time travel jumps if those jumps were possible in the forward direction only. Thus previous time would never know of the future. Of course, that would make time travel much less desirable as a recreational outing. You would never know what to expect where you went, and you could never get home again.
2) If time travel jumps (were/are/will-be) possible bidirectionally, then perhaps the lack of any evidence of it is a bit more daunting. What if we are at the epitome of human development right “now”? The past is what we already know and there is nothing in the future to bring back. I hope that’s not the case.
as far as I know I’ve only ‘been back’ once in an astral state and there were very definite parameters involved, as well as more than one spiritual guide. It was a very powerful experience and actually I had a very intense delayed shock reaction during the afternoon of the next day. It happened over 3 years ago and I am only just digesting it now. I’ve also been both forward and back in lucid dreams and etherically, but that is somewhat different to astral travel, much less dangerous and much less restrictive. Also I should say that with astral travel – back to my comment above about time-space having no meaning – you enter a dimension that is best described, I think, as eternity, so even though one may have ‘gone back’, one essentially visits a tableau that is part of an eternal ‘scene’ – there is a set pattern that it isn’t possible to deviate from. Deviation would send you right back to your body in the present moment, but really it just wouldn’t happen, as to get to that point in the first place you’d have to be in a highly atunded meditative state – after a lot of preparation – with the pure motivation that’s fundamental to safe passage. People like Cayce and Rudolf Steiner were highly adept at this type of passage which enabled them to read what’s known as the ‘Akashic record’, which is what these ‘eternal scenes’ are part of. There will be variation depending on individuals – what one is/was – and the particular aspects of the quest/mission – but essentially the symbols involved will be the same. The Atlantis myths and legends are a key part of this ‘backward travel’ (though the Atlantis legends could equally be seen as prophecy), and the ancient world generally is more accessible due to both the symbolic mythological content of ancient epochs and the fact that travelling back there involves traversing the abyss in an initiatory context, which is another safeguard for the cosmos. The turning point of history is the incarnation of Christ in Jesus and what happened prior to this point is ‘set in stone’, so to speak, it is what it is, there’s no possibility of changing what has been done by going back, only by going forward. The modern world does not have very clear or enlightened ways of denoting time, which has been made into a kind of prison in this epoch. In so far as it is present in the material dimension is not really helpful to see time as a back – to – front ‘line’, for example, it is more like a spiral – circles, cycles – and it needs to be understood as flowing from future to past as much as it does from past to future. The key to eternity is in the present moment and that is about as easy to grasp as a butterfly. It has been described as ‘stepping through the magic door’ and to fall in love is the best way of accessing it.

i believe the universe has only one dimension or axis, but so long it eventually crosses it’s own path at right angles several times, due to some bending force, creating the illusion of multi-dimensionality. one of those right angled path crossings, after the more obvious x, y and z, is the scale axis, which is truly at right angles to the other three axis. whilst i do not think of time as a dimension, it may be another of these same illusionary effects. however, time is certainly linked to scale, as the smaller the faster, and the larger the slower, but that’s more about clock-speed than linearity. that is why i call the fourth dimension time-scale, not just scale. i do not perceive or understand any further dimensions.
the term “dimension” is chronically overused in new-age and lol-science circles, along with “frequency” and “phase” amongst others. the worst transgression has to be this talk of “interdimensional”, or “travelling to another dimension”, which is complete lah-lah talk. all is present in all dimensions at all times.
on tv, they drive trucks through the “star-gate”. i don’t think the real star-gate technology (montauk etc) works like that. they abduct you in teams from dreams. it’s non physical, so they dumbed it down for the tv audience, like a ghost story where the ghost steps through a mirror at the start of the show and spends the rest of the show physical, so he can go shopping for sunglasses at the shopping mall with his buddy system teenage friend in hawaii shirts, flirting with the girls.
one thing bothers me though. i can’t help thinking the nazis have warped time (and who knows who else since). they say they had tv cameras at the berlin olympics BEFORE the second world war. that’s just not right. television – 1950s – not 1930s. is it just me feels that way? who were they televising it to? families sitting in front of tv sets? no no no. families were sitting around radios. RADIOS!. maybe the only people with tvs watching were hitler, gary numan and noel edmonds (brit joke). if they had tv cameras, how come there were no cameras watching high security installations and p.o.w. camps, like the slowly motorised panning surveillance cameras we know and love today? i dare not watch “guns of navarone” again, just in case it’s all changed and the allies are waiting around corners until the camera pans away so they can sneek by it.
the anti-gravity disc vehichles (nazis again) are said to have a number of side effects. as well as magnetically inducing into the temporal (!) lobes the feeling of being visited by angels (ironic), they are said to create localised time warps. i keep an open mind (with a big serbian bouncer on the door!).
Time travel is NOT possible, not in your present 3 dimensional form! Most people don’t even understand what the 5th dimension is. I do, so explain yourself if you do.
Any physical body which travels through time travels through space the space at which they started travelling through time. As time changes space, what do you think will happen when your space becomes occupied by something else which will inevitably occupy your space ?
I will make it simple for you! Your travelling through time, and in 100 years from now, or 10 years from now, whatever someone walks into the space you would be occupying while travelling, it make no difference your travelling as for an instant you will both occupy the same space, it will be a disaster, now imagine a wall being built where you started your journey through time, which say is there for 25 years, as you travel from second to the next even at different speeds the wall or person or object will be waiting for you to crash into it, disaster again, instant disintegration.
The only way to travel through time is to use consciousness only as it’s none physical. Then you occupy the realm you call spiritual or ghost real, but this changes you very nature of reality. Hence you cannot and never will travel through time, it’s a dream that’s all, a dream.
i agree with what you say about a time warp having occurred, and as it was the Nazis – and their ideological controllers – who twisted the esoteric currents at work in the world, causing ‘battle lines’ to be drawn in a real and present sense, spiritually as well as physically.
So you don’t like the word ‘dimension’. Well, I am not a ‘new ager’, but whichever way you look at it, there are different states of being, different states of consciousness, within which it’s possible to move. In the purely spiritual realm of eternity time and space are not how they appear to us in the material world. But I accept that the term ‘dimension’ might imply alternative worlds etc, which isn’t what I meant.
warren@It’s not just the travelers themselves. What about all of the things that they likely would have brought with them, especially from the future – technologies, philosophies, religions, social ideas, methods of government. Where is it all?
If you do some research you will find out an entire category of archeology that is called time displacement objects. Objects from another time that have4 been found in ancient unopened tombs (for example). A Swiss ring watch was found in a Chinese tomb that had not been opened for 400 years. It’s just not made it in to the main stream.
I’m sure if people are time traveling they are trying not to change time too much by bringing stuff and leaving it all over the place or else they could change time and destroy themselves in theory.
following on from my dimensional theory that postulates there is just one dimension or axis that crosses it’s own path at right angles a few times due to some bending effect, before coming back alongside the origional path but displaced slightly many times, and eventually coming back along the exact origional path again in a loop, therefore creating the illusion of space and multiple dimensions, i suggest the following explanation for the phenomena of time, and possibilities for the linear traversal thereof.
an energetic wave or particle flows along this axis, fluctuating in intensity and “colour”, like the raster beam of a tv set drawing the picture, thereby creating the illusion of material in the space. on each occasion the wave loops around and procedes along its origional path again, it draws the next moment or picture frame of change or modification or development to the material universe. having drawn or rendered each and every possibilty and variation on events (the whole of time), it starts again, because it is following an infinite line or axis, and has no choice but to repeat itself eventually.
if one could traverse this axis faster than the wave does itself, one could get ahead of the drawing process, and emerge several moments, days or years ahead of the natural flow of time. indeed, beacause the drawing process repeats itself endlessly, by getting so far ahead that one emerges shortly before it repeats itself, one could emerge moments, days or years in the past.
in the next exciting installment, i will talk about theories i have encountered regarding how to achieve near infinite velocity, which is required to do this.
