When greed, violence and the desire to control are removed from the seats of authority … and when the need to be the big “I” with a lot of little “YOUs” to look down on are removed from power  … technology can then serve it’s true purpose …

And that technology which is available and have been available beyond the veil for eons … would do away with even the need for guns …. and do away with suffering and the need for adequate housing, and the need for things as a whole …

We would have a world as so proclaimed by Picard … where people are no longer obsessed with the accumulation of things. Where hunger, want,  and the need for possessions have been illuminated ….

And as Picard said … a world that has grown out of it’s infancy … and where the challenge of every man woman and child … is to improve themselves …. to enrich themselves … and to simply enjoy their lives …

While I am not here to say whether gun enthusiasts are right or wrong, decent or indecent, or even sane or insane, the topic of debate interests me because it has recently produced a very concerning article involving 3D printers.

Defense Distributed, “a pending 501(c)(3) status nonprofit corporation in the state of Texas,” has reportedly built the key parts of a semiautomatic AR-15 rifle using 3D printing technology. The project leader, Cody Wilson, said the gun was fired six times before it broke. The semiautomatic AR-15 Rifle, as fate would have it, was also one of the weapons used in the Connecticut shooting.

While some are understandably concerned about the idea of anyone being able to print their own gun whenever they feel like it, organizations like Defense Distributed are determined to make it happen. They are the group behind Wiki Weapon, a project designed to create an open-source schematic for the first fully printable plastic gun, reports The Guardian.

The purpose of Wiki Weapon is not to actually produce and sell a working gun. Instead, they want to provide the blueprint that will enable anyone else with a 3D printer to do so. The blueprint would be available for download to anyone who wants it, free of charge.

Here’s how it would work, according to the blog Pop Sci . The apparatus, instead of being the size of your typical laser printer, would actually be somewhat bigger than the house it would build through a concrete layering system called Contour Crafting .
