Winners Announced at Pittsburgh Technology Council’s 2013 Tech 50 Awards Gala

The Pittsburgh Technology Council (PTC) announced the winners of the seventeenth annual Tech 50 awards last evening at the gala held at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown. This year’s gala, 2013 Tech 50 Spotlight: A Celebration of Innovation in Pittsburgh, highlighted the transformative technology centers of excellence with tech companies at all stages of growth.

The 2013 Tech 50 winners included:

  • ADVANCED MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR: Industrial Scientific Corporation
  • INTERACTIVE AND APPLICATION DEVELOPER OF THE YEAR: Schell Games
  • INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR: Aethon, Inc.
  • LIFE SCIENCES COMPANY OF THE YEAR: ALung Technologies
  • START-UP OF THE YEAR: Duolingo
  • TECH TITAN OF THE YEAR: ANSYS, Inc.
  • SOLUTION PROVIDER OF THE YEAR: Avere Systems

The CEO OF THE YEAR award was presented to Dr. Giorgio Coraluppi, CEO of Compunetix/Chorus Call, Inc. Dr. Coraluppi has been a stimulator of innovation and vital member of the Pittsburgh technology community since 1964. He is also one of the founding members of the Pittsburgh Technology Council.

“After sixteen years, Tech 50 is still the apex of recognition for technology visionaries,” said Audrey Russo, President and CEO of the PTC. “Pittsburgh’s tech mavericks showed the high level of innovation present in the community, and made this the best Tech 50 we’ve had so far.”
