Assemble’s Annual MakerDate Fundraiser! Saturday, May 17, 2014, 7PM at the Kaufmann Center.

Come  celebrate MAKING in the community!  We believe that anything is possible when artists, technologists, designers, dreamers and doers come together to MAKE and bring impossible ideas to life.

Assemble’s MakerDate event takes the concept of date auctioning and re-dresses it with a purpose — pairing skilled creators with those that want to learn something new.  Attendees have the unique chance to bid on “dates” with artists, craft makers, designers, technologists and innovators, who will work with the winning bidders to make a piece of art, a personalized piece of technology, or practice a new skill. This is truly a one-of-a kind, hands-on fundraising event.

This year’s event promises to be a memorable evening while raising funds for Assemble’s STEAM  focused initiatives and encouraging creativity and community.

MakerDate 2014:

Assemble is placing a local and regional call for artists, craft makers, designers, innovators  and skill-owners for its second annual MakerDate fundraising event. We believe that curiosity breeds creativity, and intrigue is best satisfied through hands-on activities. This event takes the concept of date auctioning and re-dresses it with a purpose: pairing skilled creators with those who want to learn something new. MakerDate will give attendees the chance to bid on “dates” with artists, crafters, or technologists who will work with the winning bidders to make a tangible object or teach them a new skill.

While Assemble focuses on the intersection of art and technology, we encourage submissions from a wide range of artists and makers in order to provide attendees with a diverse range of learning opportunities from four categories: Design, Craft, Technology, Food and STEAM focused skills.  If you consider yourself an expert of your craft, a teacher of knowledge, or a guide on the creative journey, then we want to hear from you.

Attendees

Assemble is a place and space that unites artists, technologists, and makers with the community and curious minds of all ages. As host and curator of events that range from hyperlocal art shows to youth coding parties, Assemble provides a platform for experiential learning, opening creative processes and building confidence through making.

Last year’s MakerDate hosted more than 150 attendees, 18 Makers and raised funds  for STEAM educational programs and events at Assemble. Attendees are  21+ and represented a wide range of Pittsburgh businesses, interests and neighborhoods.  This year, we anticipate a bigger bolder gathering featuring live music, drinks, a silent auction, and the main event, the  MakerDate auction!  As a Maker, you will be able to reach this audience in an intimate, unfiltered and engaging way. You will also directly help Assemble continue to provide opportunities for the Pittsburgh community to explore new ideas and create new possibilities.
