The Uprite Ergo Punches All Other Sit-and-Stand Desks In Their Atrophied Legs

I would stand, but my spine is fused to this ergonomic office chair. We sit so much. There’s an article every few days about why sitting will kill you. No one wants to die in sitting position, so all sorts of companies are banking on options to put your fears of a pulmonary embolism to rest. Uprite Ergo wants to be the ultimate solution, and their design and price point may just make that happen.

I’ve been looking for a sit-and-stand desk for YEARS. My brother’s treadmill desk was amazing, but totally impractical. I’ve tried the Ikea standing desk hack, but it wasn’t adjustable and it just took up too much space.

I needed something minimal, with a small footprint, that didn’t force me to have to change out my glass-top desk. Oh, and it has to be priced well too. I couldn’t find anything, so I started designing one myself. If I’m honest, it would probably have been the most amazing standing desk option ever fathomed. Then I get an email about the Uprite Ergo campaign on Kickstarter. It took me about 30 seconds from seeing it to backing the project.

John Mosher, the creator of the Uprite Ergo, had been through the same process of finding a sit-and-stand desk.  Frustrated with the options, he created the Uprite Ergo to be easily adjusted, take up the smallest amount of space, be made of high-quality materials and, best of all, beat the price on anything remotely similar.

“[The Uprite Ergo] is a free-standing, sit-to-stand workstation that allows for placement anywhere on an existing desk or given workstation,” John explains. “It can accommodate the most popular monitor brands, monitor sizes and weights, and is completely adjustable, with a separate sliding worksurface that allows users additional space.”

Here’s a rundown of the features:

It comes in the two colors options shown above with an additional heavy duty option (that’s the one I got) or dual monitor configuration for either. The price starts at US $225 (earlybird deal) for a single monitor, with the heavy-duty or dual-monitor option at $275.  They have additional ‘Office Pack’ options for packs of 5 Ergo desks, starting at under $1000. Even after the campaign the Uprite Ergo will retail under $400 for any option.
