Why Those Martian Sands Are Ooid Sands.

A website named Sandatlas has a webpage for 20 types of sand on Earth: http://www.sandatlas.org/sand-types/

Of the 20 types of sand on Earth, only ooid sand matches the sand found at Bagnold Dune in Gale Crater, Mars, for the following reasons:

1. Putative Martian ooids at Bagnold Dune are spheres, similar in size–about 0.5 mm in diameter, as reported in

http://www.planetary.org/multimedia/space-images/mars/well-sorted-martian-sand.html. Their colors are various, including white, yellow translucent, green, grey, yellow, brown, etc. Such features are seen in every Focus Merge Data Product at

and http://mars.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/?s=1228&camera=MAHLI
Such shape, size, color and concentration are characteristic of ooid sand.

2. The Martian ooid sand is seen not only at High Dune (see http://wretchfossil.blogspot.tw/2015/12/martian-ooids-found-on-sanddune.html ), but also at Namib Dune (see http://wretchfossil.blogspot.tw/2016/01/well-preserved-ooids-at-namib-dune-mars.html). Both High Dune and Namib Dune are portions of Bagnold Dune, which lies at the foot of Mount Sharp. Its environment is that of a large water body contacting a mountain and artificial cement. Such distribution and environment match those of ooid sand on Earth.

3. The morphological resemblance is evident after comparing the Martian ooids
(shown in http://wretchfossil.blogspot.tw/2016/01/well-preserved-ooids-at-namib-dune-mars.html) with Earthly ooids shown below: (Note that ancient ooids may be severely eroded.)
