Many people are unfamiliar with blood vessel fossils that were found in the sea. So, I use the following Wikipedia photo to make my point:

Six red lines mark blood vessel fossils of about 125 micrometers in diameter. The material is from the Eastern Weddell Sea near the Antarctic continent. Original description: “Mikrofossils from marine sediments consisting of radiolaria (spheres), sponge spicules (needles), planktic foraminifera (small white shells) and benthic foraminifera (large white shell in the middle and yellowish shells build from sand grains); mean diameter of spheres 0.5 mm. Sample separated from bulk sediment by washing through a 125 µm sieve.
