NASA's Mars rover Curiosity acquired this image using its Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI), on September 20, 2016, Sol 1466 of the Mars Science Laboratory Mission, at 13:06:39 UTC.
The above image shows sample drilled from the rock “Quela” at Murray Buttes, Gale Crater and dumped onto the ground for observation. Many spheres are visible in the image. Nine red arrows mark spherical ooids. You must see the figure's original size (www.flickr.com/photos/fossil_lin/29870751205/sizes/o/) in order to see them clearly.
