Watch Astronauts Fall Down on the Moon (Video)

Walking on the Moon was difficult for the Apollo astronauts. Their suits had to be tough enough to protect them from the harshness of outer space, making it very difficult for the astronauts to get around.  The suits also had to be pressurized to keep astronauts safe from the vacuum of space, so they behaved like an inflated balloon.

The suits were tough enough to take the impact of a fall, but flexible enough to allow the astronauts to get back up. They were impressively designed, but that didn’t make them easier to move around in.

This video encapsulates some of their… less than stellar highlights:

NASA is currently developing a next-generation spacesuit for human travel to Mars. You can read more about that project on the NASA website.
