Shakespear well said that a bad beginning makes a good ending, but no one ever reciprocated that a good start leads to sad wrap up.

The first practice game against England XI at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai today ended with disappointment and MS Dhoni lost his last match as captain.

India XI lost the warm-up match, the first of two practice games, by three wickets against strong batting performance of England.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down very recently from the captain post of Indian team and today’s match was his last as the leader on the field.

The home team reached a strong total of 304/5 with the contribution of Dhoni’s 68 runs (not out), Shikhar Dhawan’s 63 and Yuvraj Singh’s 56.

England started well with opening wicket making 95 runs and Sam Billings alone scoring a gigantic 93 runs.

The second warm-up practice game will be held on January 12, Thursday, and Indian team will be led by Ajinkya Rahane.

Brief Scores: India A 304/5 in 50 overs (Ambati Rayudu 100, MS Dhoni 68*, Yuvraj Singh 56; David Willey 2-55, Jake Ball 2-61) v England 307/7 in 48.5 overs (Sam Billings 93, Jason Roy 62; Kuldeep Yadav 5-60) by 3 wickets.
