Microsoft lately seems to be capitalizing Indian market more with its Skype and the reason is growing population of the platform.
The software giant launched today a new app for the market called Skype Lite and it is designed to be more useful here. Users can easily send and receive Skype messages with the version apart from making video and audio calls to other Lite version and full version of the app.
The new app seems to be a promising platform over rough network conditions as high-speed cellular data is harder to come by in India.
India is a growing smartphone market and this makes sense for Microsoft in making a special app for the country.
Meanwhile, Skype will be facing a tough competition from other similar platforms including WhatsApp, Line, WeChat, Kik and Telegram.
Microsoft said the app is equipped with a special Eco Calling mode to help in minimizing data usage while making audio or video calls over cellular network.
The new app is currently made available only on Android and can be downloaded for free from the Google Play store in the country. It supports several Indian languages too including Gujarati, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil and Urdu.
