Fukrey Returns 2-Day Gross More Than Original’s Lifetime

Sequel to 2013 movie, the Fukrey Returns has grossed more than the lifetime business of Fukrey within 48 hours of its release featuring Manjot Singh, Pulkit Samrat, Richa Chadda, Vaun Sharma (the famous Choocha guy), Pankaj Tripathy, Priya Anand and Vishakha Singh.

Co-produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sindhwani, and directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, the underdog movie earned more than 19 crore in first two days.

Fukrey Returns delayed its release by a week believing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most controversial Padmavati would eat away mega share of movie lovers if released on December 1.

Padmavati was originally scheduled to be released last week.

Critics write the comedy-drama looks like a promising ride and Choocha’s premonition has hit a jackpot. The seque is perfectly okay to watch even if one has not seen the original Fukrey.

The story line goes like Richa Chadha, playing the role of Bholi Punjaban (a household name of the brazen Punjabi don), has gone more funny and fierce after being released from jail. Varun Sharma, or Choocha, and his dreams is synonymous to Fukrey.

The movie is laced with funny dialogues but not forced jokes, the title track is appreciable and background tracks got a nice rhythm. Good chemistry can be seen between cast members and the sequel seems not an uneasy relationship with the 2013’s Fukrey.

The storyline is fresh and not with excessive repetition. If believed to Manjot Singh the movie is 10 times more in madness than Fukrey.

Singh added, “The madness, chaos and humour — fans can expect it to be 10 times hilarious and chaotic than ‘Fukrey’. There is the gang, Pandit Ji and Bholi Ji, who is back like a wounded Tigress to torture us.”

It is not easy in Bollywood for a woman to shine in a comedy segment that is completely dominated by lads, but Richa Chadda broke the trend with the sleeper success Fukrey about four years ago and now just ahead of the release of the sequel she said, “My character is written like a non-traditional villain’s character. So I love it. I have never seen villains — irrespective of their gender — be written like this.”
